  1. Yes I agree with Carms and it's far better than his other one too...lights blue touch paper and exits stage left
  2. Yes an interesting article. Thanks. Not sure there is anything I can use in my book though
  3. It's quite rare Russ, but no one has any money.

    Thanks. Steve
  5. No it was a vanity record. Plain and simple.
  6. Yep agreed Marc. Has to be a serious Chess collector with money///

OK thanks what is it like Paul?

Timmy Shaw & Chuck Holliday - has anyone seen or got this 45? Steve
  9. Thanks Tony. The Dixon production is a bit of a novelty since it was Dec 62 right just before he released stuff on his Ludix label.
  10. An area I am completely devoid of any real knowledge .....but does anyone know what was the original Ja. label for "Behold" (Wirl, or Sunshine). I know it came out on Capitol at the end of 62 in the US. Cheers Steve
  11. Probably to a serious Chess collector (if there is such a thing) who has a gaping hole in his collection.
  12. Mike Florence sent her down there to cut some new material as she'd gone a bit cold with her NY writers and both her solo / duets with Chuck. The idea was to relaunch her career with a new set of material / new sound. I am so glad we're going to hear it at long last. It was her last throw of the dice too, since although Florence adored Maxine, she also let her contract lapse shortly after these sessions. Steve
  13. She did an albums worth with Otis I read in in the Basement before he died. Look forward to the CD....
  14. No it just means Butch is playing an oldie....
  15. I think it sounded the same. If it is different it's in the margins.
  16. Bloody great record. I heard Butch play an American acetate of it (since it was UK only on a 45) - that should guarantee a quick sale now....
  17. When Tighten Up came on I was half expecting to see Soul Sam behind the decks  Great story about Frank Wilson Mike Lofthouse - these things need documenting, before everyone believes the "internet" version about Soussan discovering it in the Motown vaults - as if!!
  18. The one Geoff is talking about is the one Edu, and Cristina runs called Movin on Barcelona at the Jazz Room. w/end of 8th December, line up includes Butch, Sam , Lars etc. Last year was a cracker - tremendous sets all round and a great crack. Marcos Record shop in the afternoon, paella etc. + two great nights of music. Steve
  19. Great record, I've spun it a few times. I presume Bataan was just being cantankerous in spelling his name backwards on this 45. I don't think it's that expensive.
  20. Don't start me on trains in TV and film, we could be here a long time.... Same with buses when they have a 1930s piece and they roll out a Routemaster or something....
  21. It's light entertainment, not a scientific history. Enjoy it for what it is. Sunday evening TV. The story will either be good or not good. I am not going to be dissecting how well or not they portray the scene. The sort of thing that should be upsetting people is when TV do something like a Burt Bacharach special and find the worst possible versions of many of his songs.

Yes no one has ever seen a Jesse Fisher album, it would be great if they put it out.
  23. Nice one, was listening to your Chuck Jackson interview the other night
  24. Right but it's a bootleg. Just as long as you know.
  25. Probably just a rip off version of the Traits then. The Traits were from Houston and did Harlem Shuffle after they fell out with Roy Head.
