  1. Henri's Bar, excellent night. Then onto The Railway West hampstead, Randy's allnighter at the Last Chance Saloon, and the 100 Club. Someone needs to put up the early history, as I am sure many on here won't know how it started or what the evening do's were like (totally different to the allnighters). Anyway a great achievement.Steve
  2. Simon's offer was very fair I have to say, but at the end of the day someone wanted it more.....
  3. Sorry James i have sold that one on.
  4. Agree with this, things like Ruby Andrews were never rare anyway, and hopefully some of the inflated prices for the cheese will drop now. Top end seems quieter the last couple of years, but there are still enough people about as you say. And lots of deals go unnoticed and don't make the chattering classes.

Sad news. Really the first soul guy to write for Record Collector
  6. Agree Cliff on "I wish I knew" - also worth mentioning this side has Butterflies in the lyrics as well, so an obvious question is why the obsession with butterflies in their songs......
  7. Agree. Did Armstrong ever make a bad record? If so I've yet to hear it.
  8. Don't forget Butterfli' or their Japanese album which has a goodtrack or two on it
  9. Yes has been played extensively since the early 90s at crossover "modern" events too. Just reminds me of "Key to the world".....

Did this come before the Wingate inky winky wing dang do or was it later. Cannot be bothered to check my ZTSC numbers or dig them both out I also quite like the masterkeys - who were they?

Yes Dead in the middle of heartbreak avenue is a great crossover side, it's in fact a slower remake of what's that, same tune much faster. Steve
  12. A lot of DJs used to take the centres out to make them look more like imports......as well.
  13. Didn't Dearlove have something to do with putting this out?
  14. More money for me and errrr.....Dusty Bin Stanley and the dodgy MP then
  15. This is an excellent business plan and would really put "northern soul" on thre map Then again.....I am so annoyed that this irrelevance is still going on with people trying to breath life into the corpse that was Wigan Casino.
  16. Thing is Wigan doesn't own the music, and this is where old Russ gets it so wrong. Wigan was just a place where we could hear the music played for a few years. Needs to be kept in perspective.
  17. quote: "WIGAN Pier should be transformed into an iconic cultural landmark centred around Northern Soul, a Wigan MP believes. Ian McCartney wants to see the space, which has lain empty since theWay We Were museum closed in December 2007, become a vibrant NorthernSoul quarter celebrating the arts, crafts and music of Wigan" Is this serious? Has Wigan become a marginal seat or something? What a load of old tosh.

    Isley Brothers.....Steve
  19. Very sad news. Bring back the love of yesterday.
  20. Yes I know it is Ian. But......have you heard it? Sam played it once, phew! yes COD's was played at Wigan, does that make it good / a must have then? Is Tim only selling "Trophy Records" ? And Lee Charles I don't really know, I have been told it exists but have never seen one. Steve
  21. Precisions "Sugar ain't sweet"??? Probably the seconed worst record in Todmorden after the COD's - come on James you must have better taste than THAT!
  22. Ian wrote "Some folk don't like the limelight I guess" Yup, a guy who writes a monthly column for Manifesto and has been on TV with his Frank WIlson- nope doesn't like the limelight much at all......
  23. On the basis that only two of them have ever died some of them must be Oldies by now But they do have attitude, like pirranahs when I turn up with the food.....
