OK all lads with good taste.
  2. Steve G replied to a post in a topic in Record Sales
who is playing it then? I spun it at New Chapter in Feb, but so far I think that's it down south.....

Yes it's not well known, but it is a good little 45 - why are you selling it? Most of us haven't really started playing it yet....
  4. But but but.....Rarity has never been the yardstick for price though has it? I mean tons of rare records don't sell (including some really good ones), and tons of mediocre ones go for big money.,.....it's all down to supply and demand as my old Economics teacher used to say....things like bobby reed aren't rare I agree.
  5. Different pressing plants - very common at the time......it was cheaper just to ship a tape or master rather than ship thousands of copies round the country (though the mafia made a lot of money doing that).

No no you were sobre mate, and sounding much better than L Allen

But all that shows is how different some of our tastes are Pete. I mean that L Allen you posted up the other day - I'd forgotten why I never bought it in the past - so thanks for reminding me - I've heard better vocals from some drunks at 10 to 11 in the local pub here in Cheshunt on Karaoke night. I guess if we all liked the same thing it would be pretty boring.

It's a great tune featuring the vocals of Clifton Dyson on lead and I never tire of hearing it. However I do agree $1,100 for a crackly pops copy is weird. Like the unplayable Ernestine Eady which went for $2,000 recently - the world is round but it's also completely bonkers at times.
  9. It would probably have been within weeks. There were about 5 or 6 on Black Prince and all should be obtainable. I did an article on it in one of the mags once, so will try and locate. Cheers Steve Saver Ticket purchased for Mr Taylor, but he's not having any of it....
  10. I reckon Indigo came first and it got picked up for national distribution by Black Prince.
  11. OK will do - funny it was showing up on my avatar earlier! I will PM you with it tomorrow. I have a crackly Domestic Five 45, I want a mint one, for both sides ( I collect deep as well). My 45 is charitably in G--- condition.....

    You know it makes sense!
  13. It's now on my Avatar! Weird that as it wasn't working last night....
  14. Yeah that didn't work either, so I've scanned it and will upload it from work tomorow. Technology and me tosh!!!
  15. Steve G replied to a post in a topic in Record Wants
    Glad you got it Bud!
  16. I've had problems uploading it so I have made it my Avatar for a day or two. :-)
  17. Anyone got a copy of the Domestic Five for sale on Aquarius for sale please? Steve
  18. Yes I'll dig out the 45 tonight. Steve
  19. No 1 yes I have it somewhere. No 2 - don't believe so No 3 Don't believe so No 4 - No No 5 - Not sure
  20. There are plenty of early / mid 60s US records that were made out of shellac compound - you can normally tell them because an oily type hue is visible on the vinyl - it comes off of course with a gentle clean up. The plant that pressed some of the Sue and related labels material I think used it quite late.
  21. Exactly - so many good rare soul records were artists trying to sound like popular artists.
  22. Steve G replied to a post in a topic in Record Wants
My Stevens & Foster came in a soul pack I think
  23. Steve G replied to a post in a topic in Record Wants
Rip Pro - Stevens & Foster I got in the 70s. Simon - you need to hear it played in a club.
  24. Good to hear from him and a top class record
