Holy Grails of genres?
Surely not that rare James?

Holy Grails of genres?
For x-over, and following discussions at the Bass we are going to have the Sy Hightower album included as it wasn't allowed in the "modern rarest" section.

Fantastics Wanted
First one is around in small quantity and not impossible to find. Second one is an album track and old Yarmouth spin from a few years back> Again shouldn't break the bank. Gr8 tunes btw. Steve

Percy Stone - Chained
--> QUOTE(C.B @ Jan 2 2007, 03:43 PM) link Anybody knows why it was withdrawn by Grapevine? I think it was a problem with Percy himself not wanting it coming out, John and Gary did tell me, but I can't remember fully. Still a great record, and regular play for me.

Bound Sound Records
Think you got all the gems John. Computer funk - you are right, awful.

Ultra Rare Modern
Yes it's a very good version. Soul Bowl had a couple a while back. Steve

Another major label \one I've been playing on and off for about 10 years - Darrow Fletcher "Let's get together" on Atco. There are several 'ard Atco releases, including a blinding deep soul,,,,,oh yeah we're on modern on this thread aren't we ....

Dt Lable From Detroit ?
If I get bored over Xmas I'll see if I can find any more...but it's a bit cold in the record room at the moment, and the missus has lit a nice little fire and opened some champers.....

I am - Tony Monson imported it and didn't know what to do with it apparantly.

Good call Dave F - excellent early 80s.- Ultra Rare Modern
Yeah Simon, before he was into northern per se he had a residency at a club in Wrexham, playing soul and motown and reggae several times a week. When you see him ask him about the time Peter powell came along and asked him to play some "Quo". They just keep coming Barbara Stant.....we haven't mentioined her yet.- Ultra Rare Modern
It was imported into London as a new release.- Ultra Rare Modern
I think Sam played Paul Thompson as a new release when he was DJing in Wrexham. He told me he got it from Record Corner in Balham when it first came out. 5. Richard Marks / Innocent bystander (Free Spirit) What a great record, and one that certainly doesn't turn up. In the box for Bass Museum Simon though it might be a bit mellow for you! The man never made a bad record (3 on Tuska, 1 on Shout and this one - any more?) Agree on Poke as well. Pinch of Perfection - think there's probably 15-20+ of them about. Great Philly pounder though - both sides . Tyrone Thomas "You're hardly gone" on Polydor - how often do you see this? Records I've never seen include: The 2nd Reflection single on Wand (4 walls and a telephone) - this featured John Simmons The 2nd Lee Charles on Hot Wax - not sure it exists despite listing Leon Ware on Gordy - does this exist or is it a myth? Evidence is now leaning towards the latter ....but I am migrating back into crossover /70s, rather than jangly uptempo funk Merry Christmas- Season's Greetings And Soul Shack News Aka It's Cheaper Than Sending Christmas Cards...lol
Merry Xmas Mark and a soulful 2007.- Info Required...price And Are They Any Good?
Pat Sands c £70? Some have turned up over the last few years, but not that many.- Ultra Rare Modern
Good call on Jim Gilstrap- Ultra Rare Modern
Think you might have to wait for Soul Essence if my hunch is right....- Ultra Rare Modern
Haven't done the box yet, still full of northern, from a gig I did earlier this month- Ultra Rare Modern
Here's a few well known ones that may or may not qualify..... What about Cracksteppin' "What are we going to do with this feeling" on a 7? I thought there were a few copies about, but apart from Ivor and Sam, I'm no longer so sure. Grey Imprint? More x-over than moddun. Richard Lackey on Solid Foundation? I know one copy got sold 3 times Marilyn Smith on So Jamm? Lil Major Williams on the blue label (Plectrum?) Bobby Montgomery on Crescent? Clyde Milton on DT?- Ultra Rare Modern
I think that's the title, and agree hard on 7. I know a couple of "North West Johnnies" who paid considerably more than 50p for it. OK&T very obscure label - who remembers Larry Bailey & Co? £5 from Soul Bowl in 1982 Carbon Copies -agreed, top rare.- Ultra Rare Modern
I was wondering that as well, I am sure the proud owner whoever they are will be dropping it somewhere soon. I think I know who got it, and if I am right, you know them, but I can't say for sure, so won't. - Ultra Rare Modern
