  1. Anyone see how much this went for?
  2. Yes excellent time with an excellent crowd!
  3. 3307 - the higher numbers are rare methinks
  4. Don't think they've done one for 2-3 years now
  5. I've asked if he'd consider taking my Al Williams on Labeat as part payment for this extreme rarity
  6. Why such a buzz on such a naff record??? It was viewed as naff in the 70s as well and no discerning DJ would darken his/her box with it even back then . Frankly would leave it where it was in a boot sale
  7. Only I know the full extent of the chaos, and my lips are firmly sealed .....suffice to say it all started with a broken belt and then the handles on the bag carrying the mighty record box broke....and that was pre check in at Stanstead Anyway we had a great time and I sent him on his way back to N Wales on Monday morning... Brian I'll PM you links to some photos, so the old boy can see what he got up to next time he's round yours......also please tell him we have his trademark "cap" in Cheshunt (he left it behind) - will bring it to Prestatyn Friday Steve
  8. One in Cheshunt, One in Hatfield now then
  9. Let's hope Sam was able to dig the car out this morning then....he's supposed to be round my gaff at 7.
  10. Jees that is a lot. It is pretty damn rare though. For a long while there were only about 3 copies, think a couple more have turned up since....but still as 'ard as they come. Will be in Pete's all time Top Ten I am sure of that!
  11. Nice example which shows the true grubbiness of 60's paper 40 years on.
  12. Fab Tears were Little Dooley's backing singers btw - a mine of useless info sometimes. The guy may have wanted 5k for the Tommy Tate he didn't get anything like it in the end. I am sure I have seen a further one on ebay more recently.
  13. You bought it you tell us the story Sean But worth mentioning Motown NY did use Bell Sound acetates occasionally
  14. I bought it a couple of years back, and was wondering if anybody had seen a copy such as this before. Of course we know it was enver given an official 45 release at the time and has only popped up on bootlegs under the cover up name. This has some interesting info on it, any experts that could point me in the general direction in terms of value and such it would be much appreciated...
  15. Label named after the area of St Albans?
  16. Not got the technology - if all else fails come to SouL Essence
  17. Chris will these be specific "crossover" sessions as such? Not being cynical, just searching for a bit of clarity.....i.e. are they billed as crossover sessions or will they be general mix it up non-northern sessions with Trace of Smoke, Mixed Emotions, type sounds etc ?
  18. Russ it's NOT 6Ts - just a better 7Ts mix by all accounts. Not having heard the "inferior" red version I cannot compare
  19. God don't say somebody is playing it again - Bloody awful. Seriously any DJ that plays that today deserves stringing up..... Has anyone mentioned the Themes yet "Hawaii 5-0" , "Afternoon of the Wino", "Colored Man", "Police story", "Outer Limits" etc......
  20. Frankie Kah'rl "Don't fan the flame" (Gordy) (1976) This is THE Frankie Kahl BTW - his last 45 before he died - great piece of 70's Motown in my humble opinion!
  21. ....come on now.....you know I did
  22. Don Varner "Tear stained face" on Veep anyone? Thanks for the examples John (M) - some food for thought. --> QUOTE(mark.b @ Feb 24 2006, 10:24 AM) link hi hohn does the fact that in the 70's due to a shortage of vinyl the rumour was that warehouse were recycled thus losing lots of stuff, if this is true then would explain why a lot of large run records are pretty hard to find. mark Good point Mark I forgot that - tons melted down in the 70s - probably including entire stocks of certain things
  23. It's the "little naive" bit that gets me - I was never able to work out what he was singing at that point......Paul are we to assume this is coming out on Grapevine then? A worthy replacement for my knackered styrene copy with DJ run in hiss and considerable surface noise then
