  1. Bloody heck, I mean SkyArts 1 NOT sky1.
  2. Just done a search, for anyone interested, it's on Sky 1 & HD, tomorrow morning at 09.00am Tuesday 11th, so set your boxes to record. Cheers ears Aid
  3. Should spell his name right I suppose. That's Smokey, I meant to say.
  4. Smokie Robinson gives a fantastic interview, if you want to catch up it's called Spectacle:Elvis with Smokie Robinson. Blew me away, candid, intimate & an eye opening interview. Catch it if you can. Cheers Aid
  5. We had a Rumbelows in Warrington, but it got taken over by the punks in the later days. My first soul records from those were all on british labels like Pye Disco Demand, think I had a Chuck Wood Seven Days on that one. Remember my first actual disk without a middle, which to me at the time, was somehow was more special than those british labels with a middle, it was a Don Thomas boot. As I got older & wiser, I remember a guy in the record bar a Wigan with a box full of stateside tunes included a green demo Charlie Gracie He'll never Love you, all of a sudden the penny dropped british labels could be cool too.
  6. Doh! er, I'l get me coat Pete. Quick question why you are around Pete as I can't be arsed to start a thread to ask it & reckon you might know? Just watched a copy of Four Voices, You love is getting stronger, sell on a gold Voice label, is this a re-issue or variation of the green one?

  8. I also love Jay Traynor, I can probably understand why some don't, but for me it's late Wigan/Searling & great memories from the main hall. I've had me monies worth out of this thread but I'll throw another cr@p record in. G.I Joe We Love You by the Fantastions, I actually got it on a Chicago Soul cd, I don't imagine it ever gets spins (tell me it doesn't please), but it's pure unadulterated junk, which is funny cos on the same cd is' In Other Words' by The Fantasions, which I like.

Great tune, nice record to own on Sound, big at Wigan for a while.
  10. Jeeess, just missed this, found the listing just after it ended. This is in fact The Arabians not Billly Jo Burnette on the b side. Went for $18, doh! worth quadruple that in pounds I'd say, if I'd have spotted this wound have set the auto bit on high. https://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280746384320+#ht_2912wt_1219
  11. Black Echoes getting a bit of overhype here me thinks, I was a subscriber through the 70's & if my memory serves correct, had to go right to the back for about 2 small articles on the current northern scene, always hidden away and fairly cr@p most weeks, the homemade fanzines that used to crop up were always more informative & very humorous to boot!, can't remember the titles though? Back on subject, key moments: not in any order & these are personal recollections. 1. First time I heard Dickie spin Cecil Washington (then Joe matthews) at the Casino. 2. The obvious split in the scene as encountered at the Ritz All Dayers with Levine & Curtis & co. 3. I heard a rumour of someone paying an obscene amount of money for The Jades & couldnt get my head round it. 4. The day Mrs Woods deemed me old enough to get in an all nighter, after previously being refused entry for an earlies session for underage & spending the evening on Wigan station while my mates went in. 5. Shaking hands with Edwin Starr. Last, but no means least, getting a reply on this very site from a certain Lorraine Chandler, never thought that would happen when I was shuffling on my front room carpet, to I can't change, in me brogues, petrol blue parallels & Fred P @ the tender age of 14. Happy days indeed.
  12. Steve Strange made a few trips to the Casino.
  13. Looks great, when it's released, hope the media treats it with the respect it deserves, I suspect not but hope so, although Soul Boy wasn't a complete turkey, it was a wasted opportunity, I'm sure Elaine Constantine step in & will produce a good movie to put things right. Dare I say it (going off the teaser) Trainspotting meets This England!
  14. I missed it & I'm scanning everyday. Couldn't comment on accurate value to be honest, but what a foookin tune it is, to be sure, to be sure! Aid.
  15. I'm gonna flog mine shortly, how much could I expect these days? In Ex cond. Taking of great tracks on this label, love Darrow Fletcher What Have I Got Now.
  16. Sorry Chalky, will do in future. Someone on here saying only yesterday that it's a bearish market for soul records, imagine what a red issue would make. (not cracked & trashed).
  17. How bout this, still up for grabs. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Cody-Black-NORTHERN-SOUL-TEST-PRESS-SIGNED-45-Going-Gone-End-Up-Lovin-/120782648591?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item1c1f34f50f#ht_500wt_1219 Cheers Aid
  18. Ah, okay Colsoul, I'm only interested on 'I'll Run' to be honest, love this track.
  19. vg- too. https://cgi.ebay.com/...#ht_1043wt_1219
  20. Her, ColSol, Not sure what your asking? Aint that something, Flip to I'll Run, just looks like it was reissued on a later record 1004, My copy of I'll run is 1001 so guessing it was earlier.
  21. That Delites might have made a bit more if that showed the right side :-)
  22. It's all relative, even I know that this Sex Pistols on A&M is highly collectable & rare as hens teeth. Stick a copy of Mellow Souls or red issue Larry Clinton up for auction, both those will trump that SP single. Can't generalise on genre trends based on one or two sales.
  23. Good call enchantedrythm, Love, Love, Love is the essence of NS in a bottle, not bad for a white guy. I'm not saying these are the best only that these represent the very essence of what NS is for me or what I grew up on at least (my tastes have changed now but these are the NS standards & fill me with a thousand memories & never fail to stir my emotions imo) From my pre/ & Casino Days & are standards in any set: Major Lance You Don't Want Me No More. Herbert Hunter I Was Born To Love You. Chubby Checker You Just Don't Know. Lorraine Chandler I Can't Change. Eddie Parker I'm Gone. My essential listening these days (digitally of course, ain't got that kind of money for this quality vinyl) , I believe my tastes have changed but still contains the very same essence of the music I love. Age Of Bronze I'm Gonna Love You. Roy Alston, Something Ain't Right. The Festivals, Hey Girl Chico Lamaar, What Do You Think I Am. Ollie Jackson, Wipe Away The Tear Drops. Freddie Butler, Save Your Love For Me.
  24. I'd say Otis Leavill fits into the some category Darrow Fletcher & most named above.
