  7. >On topic one off bit of a laff type deal ...<
  8. I went to a soul night recently and it was pressings a go go. I can't remember if it was more than £5 to get in, but I think it was. Thinking back I should have asked for a refund. Taking more than a fiver from people and playing them records that are not real is a con.
  9. Wow I bet that was something else.
  10. 100% Spot on.
  11. You should read my Southern Northern Soul v Northern Northern Soul thread. I think we covered these points in there a couple of years back. So the Midlands is fine but the West Midlands..
  12. Laughing here - black country - midlands - west midlands ... Spit & a kick as my dad used to say, meaning just down the road. I remember complaing to a Yank about the drive from here to Cornwall to which he replied "shit man we go that far for taco".
  13. I think the Midlands is one of the best places in the country to live for Soul. There's a fair number of decent do's in the Midlands that play good soul - Banbury, Rugby, Warwick etc.... Only a couple of hours by car to the North, or the South... What's to complain about?
  14. There's this tease on popsike ..
  15. I know Steve G has said he had carvers done of some of his rarer pieces for preservation purposes.
  16. Gordon Ramsey kitchen programme usually has a bit of rare soul on it here and there. Can't say I care for it myself, using good NS tracks to flog tacky crap on the tele. Sort of cheapens the music imo.
  17. Yeah man I miss the queue... Rolling up to see Trickster if he was there first, or we got there before him. What you said of those bemused & pished up jazz cats is spot on and was good value. Also the 100 Club does have Lourdes like powers in that on more than one occasion I've been feeling really rough but not wanted to miss it and come out feeling like $100. Is this M1/M6 thing the northern boys doing the northern northern soul thing?
  18. I'm impressed, nice one Bob!
  19. George Walker & The Gospel Mellotones were on MGM I think. Der der der der der ... I'm lovin' it! I'll get my coat ....
  20. Did a dedication down there for you once dude - you're wanted & needed .. So c'mon down and bring the Shirley girl too.
  21. Gerri Granger - Why Can't It Be Tonight 30th Anniversary (?)
