I was really disappointed with the book. For all he has done and been involved with there was little substance.

Cheap Records To Start Out A Collection?
Just listen tonas much as you can. Many sites have clips with their sales, same for sales here and elsewhere. Youtube has a vast amount of listening. Best way to find what you like and learn.

Leo Costa "If You're Trying To Hurt" acetate. The track listing is on the mixcloud page, short of a couple I couldn't remember when I converted the tape.

Skimming On Post! Since When Did 1St Class Signed For Cost £5?
Plastic stiffeners might be ok in theory but do they absorb shock?

Skimming On Post! Since When Did 1St Class Signed For Cost £5?
Even if the package was too thick for the large letter slot and was to then be a small package it still wouldn't be a fiver, about 3.50 I think.

Cresa Watson-Salvation-Charay 90
The Rita Lee was done for the scene by the owner, as were other releases. Brad or Barrie Wadd were in touch with him at one time. i thought Cresa and Rita were slightly different when listened to in the cold ligt of the day. Listened to them both round at Andy's but it was a few years ago. Will try and compare them.

£25 And Under Dj Sets
Ebay is not a reliable indicator of prices though is it, they are all over the place. And Anita Humes has also sold for more on ebay on a consistant basis. Many no longer bother with it because of charges and fees. Add your postage to the price and it is no longer the baragin one thinks. One dealer today says he rarely looks at it. Anita Humes, you couldn't get one for £25 upon hearingfor the first time from a dealer, £40 would be about thebest you could expect. It wouldn't be much cheaper on a list on say here. Like I said we all get bargains and drop lucky but there is a perceived and accepted value for most records on the scene and this must be the price you go by otherwise the event loses all credibility.

£25 And Under Dj Sets
I think you might have got lucky with a few Anita Humes is £40/£50, as is the Wanderers. Kent Anniversary, not many for £25? As I said IMO the criteria for anything like this is that you can go to a dealer and buy it upon hearing it. There are collectors with what they have bought over the years who could make a mockery out of this with some records that are expensive today.

Reissues With Exact Label Scans
We do check them and reset them but Dj's like to fiddle. They don't seem to realise it sounds different out front.

Cresa Watson-Salvation-Charay 90
I once saw a Charay listing for Cressa Watson with number but never found it again.

Cresa Watson-Salvation-Charay 90
Rita certainly was, someone was feeding the Major info about what was happening on the scene.

Cresa Watson-Salvation-Charay 90
I think Andy's has Cresa crossed out and Rita written on the label in biro.

Reissues With Exact Label Scans
Who is playing carvers Phil? I'm not one for going and looking at what is being played unless I want to know what a record is or if I am surprised by someone playing some major rarity/obscurity. You can set up the decks as professionally as you want but it all goes tits up when the DJ's arrive cause they f*** it up again as they have little idea what to do most of them.

No clips on the net as far as I know. Mighty rare, I know of three copies over here.

Advert On The Itv Today
I would imagine they are privy to what is being said and like I said they must be happy the way it has gone by and large. I agree there has been some nasty comments and they are totally unjustified and uncalled for, Dave nor any of those in the adverts deserved some of the crap directed their way. But the dress, the portrayal of the scene in these media campaigns, the constant impression that everything today is as it was in 1974 to 1977, it does p*ss a large amount of people off because it isn't how they want the scene portrayed nor themselves to those on the outside, but they should behave like adults when giving their opinion. And yes life would be poorer without the scene although I could live without it as I would still have the music and that is what it is ultimately about.

Advert On The Itv Today
You are right in everything you say but everyone is also entitled to an opinion. As long as it isn't personal and vindictive then I see nothing wrong in giving those opinions. And after all this is a forum, debate, argue and pass comment is what happens on them. People who have invested time money and effort into the scene are entitled to an opinion. Just because you or others don't agree with it doesn't make that opinion wrong, doesn't make it right either for that matter, there is no right or wrong. I said earlier people can dress how they like, it doesn't bother me each to their own, some of the clothing in the ad looks smart. But people must be pretty naivé to think an advert can be made and no comment will be passed. Those who made the advert are probably pretty happy with all the talk, both good and bad, shredded wheat has had tons of free publicity.

Reissues With Exact Label Scans
Why on earth would you spend £112 on a boot? It has to be because they are DJing with it. It the argument was simply to play some vinyl at home then you get a carver cut at £30 and save almost £100, make the labels yourself. The scene was built and based on rare 45's in their original format. That seems to have been lost along with a lack of imagination. What happened to DJ's getting a set because they actually had something different to bring to the party and not the same as the previous DJ? The whole market has become infested with boots, google any particular record and you will get a result for somewhere like Juno with one of these lookalikes or ebay with the same. Ebay is a waste of time, far too much time wasted trying to find anything decent amongst the boots. What are the record companies doing about these sellers, surely they are watching places like ebay? Are they bothered? As for DJing if you don't have the records leave it to those who do, there are enough of them without the need to resort to boots.

Looking For Garnet Mimms - As Long As I Have You
I like it myself and I am happy with the LP, carrying LP's doesn't worry me in the slightest. Played the track out myself the odd time some years ago.
