  1. Chalky posted a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
Depends if you just want to buy just what you like or you wanna label collect. If the latter than chooses a label to get started with.
  2. I would have thought if the acetate is New York/Detroit then I wouldn't have though it was the Apollas.
  3. Any clues on the acetate? Where it was recorded etc?
  4. I would imagine there are is a copy or two of the Springers in collections from the 80's etc. George's copy not been mentioned in the coun since he mentioned it, has Tim still got one, Butch and other collectors who have been in the loop since it was first played.
  5. Did anyone answer the original question
  6. Thanks for the podcasts Benji, haven't listened to them all but I have a large majority of them, great listening.
  7. Why not, she gets plenty of exposure on mainstream pop middle of the road stations like radio 2, certainly her better known tracks like I Say Little Prayer. As i said i wouldn't expect to hear this at any all-nighter.
  8. The Stafford Story continues with a nod to 100 club and 6t's co founder Ady Croasdell. He did play a big part in the mid 80's soul scene with the many unissued gems that not only did Ady play but they went to Keb and Guy as well. Here is a podcast made up partly by what I have on a recording of Ady at the TOTW and other tracks he was featuring in his sets back then. https://www.soulunderground.co.uk/StaffordTOTW/files/07d52bb5a9ba90b952a8a518ffa8d352-46.html Tommy Hunt - Pretty Part Of You - Unissued Sammy Ambrose - Welcome To Dreamsville - Unissued Marvelows - Your Little Sister - ABC Paramount Bunny Sigler - For Crying Out Loud - Decca Moments - Baby Baby Need You - Hog Hector Rivera - I Want A Chance For Romance - Barry Melba Moore - Magic Touch - Unissued Peggy Woods - Love Is Gonna Get You - Unissued Maxine Brown - I Want A Guarantee - Unissued Alt Vocal Trends - Not too Old To Cry - ABC Paramount Tommy Hunt - New Neighbourhood - Unissued Wally Cox - This Man Wants You - Mono Take Chuck Flamingo & The Kansas City Playboys - Whats My Chances - Rojac Chuck Jackson - Little By Little Maxine Brown - It’s Torture - Unissed Little Tommy Baby Can't You See -Sound Of Soul Drapers - Your Love Has Gone Away - Gee Tony Mason - Take Good Care - RCA Rubies - Spanish Boy - VJ Harvey Averne Dozen - Never Learned To Dance - Uptite Two People - Stop Leave My Heart Alone - Revue Steinways - You’ve Been Leading Me On - Oliver Roosevelt Grier - Pizza Pie Man - D-Town The Megatrons Detroit Sound Laurie Boston Hitesmen - Let It Ride - MTA Johnny Maestro - Stepping Out Of The Picture - Scepter
  9. What rubbish. Just about every record out there (apart from the exclusives and real rarities the top lads have) is on youtube, a cd or some other format, there dis no need whatsoever to resort to boots to hear them. What is this topic about?
  10. The only observation I use is if you ain't got the records leave it to someone else, there are plenty who do have the records. Or as I said buy within your budget, plenty of good records about often cheaper than boots. If all you want to do is listen, listen from a cd, too many seem far too happy to say it is ok to bootleg.
  11. We've had this argument so many times, why do you feel you need to either spend thousands of pounds on a record or play bootlegs to be a DJ? If you don't have the money for. Soultown Ray Agee then look at something cheaper. Plenty of decent records that don't stretch the wallet out there.
  12. Had some time to myself so a second podcast for your listening from Soul Sam, be warned you 60's lovers it is Modern Soul, much of it new or recent at the time they were played in around 1984. https://www.soulunderground.co.uk/StaffordTOTW/files/7963e6f0035d82a1f5a88348d47bdb93-45.html Major Lance - Are You Leaving Me - Kat Family Lenny Welch - You Picked A Fine Time (To Change Your Mind) - Big Apple Julius Brown - Never Too late - West End Al McCall - Hard Times - West End Samson & Delilah - I Can Feel Your Love Slipping Away - Saturn Mel Stewart - No Work, No Play - Mercury Ivan Neville (Neville Brothers) - Dance Your Blues Away - Cookie Bill - Space Lady - Dollar Bill Richard Caiton - Where Is The Love - J.B.’s Records Ronnie Dyson - All Over Your Face - Cotillion Timmy Thomas - Gotta Give A Little Love - Gold Mountain Mother Fox - Fallen Into Love - Shabang Luther Vandross - For The Sweetness Of Your Love - Epic Circle City Band - Magic - Circle City Records Pure Energy featuring Lisa Stevens - Love Game - Prism Jan Leslie Holmes - I’m Your Superman - Jay Jay Records Jamie Lynn - You Ain’t Got No Money - Salsoul Kinky Foxx - So Different - Sound Of New York
  13. One went through I think ebay for around 8k if remember rightly, dollars or pounds can't remember. It doesn't show on popsike or Collectors Frenzy though.
  14. I don't recall ever seeing it?
  15. Ray Agee £3011 some time ago, before the site revamp.
  16. There has been at least three up for sale or offers on here the last 12 months.
  17. One just sold one for somewhere in-between those figures, went pretty quick too.
  18. Didn't Dave Raistrick find/play it first?
  19. If it is RA it wouldn't be the first time that an artist has completely forgotten about something recorded back in the 60's
  20. He may well have said he wasn't aware of the 45/recording, was a long time ago when it was talked about. I don't remember him saying explicitly that it wasn't him though. I guess we will never know for sure.
  21. BB is probably the term used after the size of the shot used in a BB Gun I would assume.
  22. A mate once told me after he met Ray Agee that he wasn't aware the 45 had been released. I doubt it was a bootleg and as I said in the topic in the link it wouldn't be the first time a record was released without the artists knowledge or consent.
  23. I'm sorry but £220 plus for the "Lady" release is plain barmy. It was and still is IMO a cheap record, it was £30 for years and years. "Lazy" is the rare one and as said it looks like someone is getting a little mixed up.
