Just Like The Weather - Demo, Plain Blue Or Speckled ?
But it's a reissue isn't it, came after all the others did it not meet its reserve, something like £2400 final price, not the interest in it the seller thought?

It shouldn't be though Steve. Any newcomer has the best of near on 50 years of this wonderful scene, why should it come down to 70 records or 100 records, the same records week in week out. This isn't even oldies vs newies., most of them are oldies now but there is at least 25 years worth of records if you just count up to the end of the 80's. There is so much good stuff discovered in recent years by the likes of Kent that should satisfy most dancers. Any newcomer hasn't a clue about classics, Wigan, Stafford, Torch etc so why do people insist on force feeding them so called anthems.....ffs why Judy Street and Dobie Gray

Want a sad sorry excuse of once "cool" scene the northern soul scene has become when all people want is Judy Street and Dobie Gray. Someone remind me what year it is? How do newcomers to the scene know what a classic is and what is not a classic? Or have they been force fed the so called top 70 anthems? What did they listen to until they decided they wanted to be part of the northern soul scene? The same top 40 for 40 years by any chance? There is more to this scene than the same top 70 records, I'm just talking classics btw, I'm not even including records from post Wigan.

There was more than Richard consulted on the day of filming and throughout filming, especially about the clapping.

Al Hughes - Take It Or Leave It (Scope)
Like Derek remember it from the 80's but no one really persevered with it, guess there was so much stuff around then plenty slipped under the radar.

Two Versions Of Soul Incorporated "what Goes Up" / Boo Label?
Just ripping some CD's to the computer and this is on the very first CD Soul Supply did (1988) "Rare Soul on CD Volume 1". The brief sleeve notes says I got rid of any Soul Supply LP's I had in the earlyish 90's but I presume this is the same as the one on the LP? It sounds like the one in the second video Bob posted.

The Greatest Male And Female Vocalists (In Your Opinion)
I mentioned Little Willie John. He is far from a favourite singer of mine. I read that no one could or wanted to follow him on stage as they couldn't compare or compete with him. This included Jackie Wilson and James Brown. After reading his autobiography I listened to a fair bit of his music and even though not all too my taste you could see why many did say he was probably the best ever. One of the most underrated has to be Tommy Tate. Are some of the above suggestions based on their voice and the quality of it of because they are a favourite?

Since I read his autobiography and listened once again to his material Little Willie John has to be up there.

Letting Drunk's In Venue's After The Pub's Shut ?
Don't let a few pissheads shut you down. Set Wally on em next time They won't come back again best of luck for the future though in all seriousness. Incidents like this can happen to anyone. You can only learn from these sort of things and will make the night a better night for all concerned.

Letting Drunk's In Venue's After The Pub's Shut ?
The remarks I made about an extra tenner or whatever in the tin and sod security is generalisation and isn't aimed at you, how could it be I haven't been to your venue. But many many venues I have been to many promoters don't seem to care once you have handed your money over. No security, promoters paying no attention to what is happening inside, they treat it like the paying punters, as a night out. That is fact in many cases. If promoters just want a night out then they should pack the "promoting" in. If they want to promote then they should do it properly and provide a safe comfortable atmosphere and venue for those who have handed their money over. If you leave the door open with no one watching it you are asking for trouble.
