In didn't realise we were talking about another Sooty, I was trying to catch up with the topic when I posted so I must have missed that mention.

How Do You Define R&b ? Split From Other Thread
Ray Agee, not Northern, some of you I think are on the wrong scene. It's a northern soul classic. Nothing happened to it Sooty, it is still played by those who are lucky enough to have a copy and why not, it is fantastic IMO, rams the dancefloor every time.

How Do You Define R&b ? Split From Other Thread
Northern soul isn't one particular style of music though is it. It is all taken from various genres if the beat fits, blues, r&b, soul, pop.......

Book Prices?
John has said before his guide prices are for a mint copy including vat. I wonder how many of those who use the guide to price their records actually use the actual price stated but not pay vat?

Johnny Praye had been covered up since the 90's, I used to pester him for it every time I saw him out.

Tommy & the Derby's fantastic IMO, loved it since first heard it early 90's. but yes every DJ has had their share of duffers, except Phil though, he has better taste than us all

George's last performance in Muscle Shoals.....

No I'm not far from it. Parliaments you cite took years to break as did Johnny Praye and Tommy and the Derbys even though they had Butch behind them. But someone like Butch, Andy or Mick H would I'm sure you'll agree have s better chsnce of breaking a record, especially Andy or Mick H purely because of the amount of times they DJ.

Sir Joe On Ru Jac
Exactly...stating the bleeding obvious as we say here.
-
Sir Joe On Ru Jac
There was no impact as output it on the scene as no one had a copy, not the DJ's who carry the clout to break a record. It is pretty obvious that as soon as Dave, Butch and Andy Dyson get a copy it is going to get some turntable action.

George Jackson Passes
The following is a message from the Malaco Music Group's Facebook site. Our dear family member, friend and songwriter, George Jackson, passed away earlier this morning. George changed the face of Pop, Rock and Roll, Soul, Blues and many other forms of music. We will truly miss him. He was one of a kind. He left behind a treasure of songs that will live forever. For that, we say thank you! Today, and for years to come, I encourage you to listen to your favorite George Jackson song and appreciate what a truly wonderful person was! God Bless! A detailed biography can be found on John Ridley's Deep Soul Website: http://www.sirshambling.com/artists_2012/J/george_jackson/index.php

You do talk some rubbish

I don't think anyone is saying that at all Terry. It's how something is described that is the issue. Burnley is a good nighter with quality music no one is denying that or saying anything different. But as I said it isn't about Burnley. Phil is constantly knocking the scene he hasn't been involved with for sometime and knocking everyone's taste because it doesn't match his. Sir Joe is far from scraping the barrel. Soul Sounds Unlimited not bad either

I never DJ'ed for Phil.
