  3. Thanks for the kind words and happy you are finding something new and enjoyable. If you didn't know the Hytones then try my website that features 60 odd podcasts of what was played at Stafford, Dj by Dj, all from the same era as the Hytones. https://www.soulunderground.co.uk
  4. Possible, there has always been these records to one degree or another. It is simply more dumbing down of the scene and exploitation, they care little for the history of the scene nor do the intended audience.
  5. This week Roger Banks makes a welcome return to the studio. Two hours of wit, banter and great soul music.
  6. I agree, it is no longer about the music or the night out really, its all about them trying to show off, badly all to often.
  7. I believe so, done for "friends"
  8. The sooner the wheels fall off the bandwagon and the leeches and others exploiting the scene f&ck *ff the better. Northern Soul my arse.
  9. The knowledge in those days was amazing, years before the internet. How would todays generation manage?
  10. We have digitised magazines in the past, Shades of Soul, Backbeat etc so I thought I'd do Rod Dearloves magazine from the early 80s, Midnight Express. Here is issue 1, I'll do the others, well up to issue 7, as time allows. Not sure if there were other issues after 7? Midnight Express Issue 1.PDF

It was massive at the time, floor filler for Alan wherever he played, Butch and Carl also.

Shifty got two copies from Barry Wickham in LA, sold one to Carl Fortnum. Ginger was some time after, may have been Shifty's when he sold up? It was early to mid 90s, 92/3? before I got married in 1996.

Think it was a Shifty discovery....could be wrong and it was Butch??? Here n the UK anyway. Be at least 30 years ago I guess.

  18. further evidence of a resurgence in cassette tapes, we now have a bluetooth tape player, bit expensive but still.... https://www.wearerewind.com/en-gb
  19. You sure, that would be an oldie surely by 1983
  20. Not heard that one mate, Kitch put a video up on facebook some months ago.
  21. Kitch has the female version of Burning Sensation.
  22. I thought she was a good dancer but unlike you I thought the spins etc were out of place with the record, if they were where they should be rather than going through a routine then she should have won. Jack was a worthy dancer IMO. Didn’t see enough of the other guy but from what I saw was just doing the tricks for the sake of it and what was the shufflin about?
  23. Thats me mate and thanks
