The origianl acetate are often done in the studio are they not? A way to hear the recording as it will sound once pressed on vinyl. The acetate which is the only original source found its way over here after it had been played and this record has always been played of home made acetates (vinyl carvers today). Who owns the acetate that found it's way over here?

I remember one in Stoke, above the bus depot I think. That was two rooms and dealers etc inbetween the two and you could hear the music from both rooms....
  6. I don' think it is poor, very good IMO but it is too fast and not as dance floor friendly maybe? If you see one for a tenner give me a shout, I'd pay that for it :-)
  7. Topic Reopened. Off topic has ben removed. Neither Roger nor myself wish to spend our limited spare time moderating and removing of topic posts like we've seen today on this topic. Everyone should know the score and the guidelines so we ask you for the last time to stick to the guidelines and stop posting off topic. I also ask that politics and religion be left off these forums. These forums are for talking soul music. I'm all for a laugh and a bit of a light hearted interlude but some take it too far, especially today and especially after being asked to give over with the off topic. So please, striuck to daft sales of Soul/Northern Soul records and leave the off the Soul Forums.
  8. But again you are assuming very few people have seen the listing. These two records there's only a few who would be in the market for them anyway and most of those don't contribute on here (or very little) or they have the record(s) so I doubt SS will have an effect on the end price, especially in these two cases. Granted some cheaper item it may influence but again most would see the listings anyway.
  9. How many topics are we going to have for these sales, this is three now isn't it?
  10. I've had a quick search and can't find a topic about any of those labels, maybe individual posts in sale about one or other of the labels. I can do a more in depth search when not on mobile but if anyone wishes to start a topic on those or any other then please feel free to do so. Don't forget, a topic on here can be more informative than most places, especially books. You can get sound pictures, boot details and artist details all in one place. As I said Roger I'm sure would archive any topic for easy access in Sharp End. There is alreay a fantastic about of information and knowledge in Sharp End, a great resource to go with others mentioned.
  11. As far as I know there are at least three copies over here.
  12. I find it hard to believe anyone would think the COD's would slip under the radar and sell for a few hundred dollars. I find it hard to believe that people think unless it is posted on here no one will see these sales. Most collectors and dealers I know see every record posted on ebay whatever the section. Most I know don't show their hand and bid till as late as possible so a bid with days to go is totally irrelevant to the end price.
  13. Not on here Benji but elsewhere, it was altered on my site when pointed out and in other places but obviously not here. Luckey still recording and performing.
  14. If it helps we can archive any label discussion in sharp end of the vinyl for easy search.
  15. Thanks guys. The '69 is a top John, '79 I think it should be off top of my head. I thought I'd changed it everywhere but obviously not. As far as I can remember the yellow and orange are the same mix aren't they? And on that subject whilst talking to Luckey Davis he said to me yellow came before the orange copies. Luckey Davis is also Mr Luckey (I Was Born To Love You) for those that don't know.
  16. i've got my copy ordered via amazon mate, cd mind you.

Again this is forum isn't for advertising venues. Can prmoters please use the events forum. Thank you. Topic closed.
  18. Three topics about this record merged.
  19. Is the flip the same as the Fairmount copy? Memory says it is but can't check right now.
  20. I'm useless with paint unless it comes out of a spray gun....
  21. must be a demand for them. I'll stick with what I've got as far as R&B Indies goes. Will finish the soul one off.
  22. Like any guide I take nothing for granted and double check any info if unsure. Also like any guide, especially something on this scale there will be omissions and errors, I don't think I've seen a reference book yet that doesn't have errors and mising info? As for plagiarising thats between the parties concerned but I know many sites who have plagiarised other sites for their info, well known and respected sites. It goes on all over the place. They are a welcome addirtion to my shelves and like I said you won't get the R&B Indies as it is sold out unles it has had a reprint to which I am unaware of.

Post edited to remove request for mp3's. Once again mp3's and requests for mp3's not allowed due to file sharing issues which you should be fully aware of, especially long standing members.

Again, please take any personal grievances to either PM's or sort in the real world face to face/via phone. Both JT and Mickey have had your say on here so no more here please.
  25. All these documentaries are great viewing and this one no exception. Even better over Apple TV and on 42 inch plasma.
