If they are daft enough to pay take their money

the downloads keep stopping after a few MB
  3. I actually think Jerry Ganey is the one lacking in soul, sounds too much like a Righteous brothers record as well.

no problem, will give it a listen on Monday. As I drive a lot always looking out for quality pod-casts, across the board and not simply Northern Soul. What is the download link on the page? It's all in German

You used to be able to buy Dottie and Millie for a few quid, used to be 100's kicking about, every sales box, some major dealers had quantity. Despite being overplayed having been hammered for years it is a good banker for the dancefloor, especially if struggling so the price will always remain higher than it is probably actually worth. Was around £300 at one time, never in a million years is it £300 rare.
  6. Reckon most of us are, some not even using the same hymn book never mind hymn sheet reading some of the replies.
  7. Chris Morgan by a country mile, Jerry takes to long to get going IMO.
  8. Agree with you Azza I don't see too much of that either. If it does happen it's usually local p-ss heads looking for a late drink and more often than not they are put in their place. All the younger ones into the music behave as good as or if not better than many who have been about years.

https://support.apple.com/kb/TA23478 https://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/podcasts/specs.html apparently your radio station does have an iTunes subscription. Look for radio industrie in pod casts in the Itunes store.
  10. sound file for refosoul anyone?
  11. Hi Paul, thanks for the reply. Good to see and refreshing for a city centre venue. Many don't work for obvious reasons. And judging by the selection you mention some great music played. Like I said if you get down to Lifeline introduce yourself and have a chat. Think Mark (Wignaer1) said it that there isn't the opportunities for a lot of older people too with great collections so it is not just you young uns suffering. Like I said your time will come though.

Hi Henning, is this podcast/show available via iTunes?
  13. I was referring to events and the dj's at them. All have a mixture of residents and guests who can and do cater for all tastes. It has always been tough to get on the ladder, particularly all-nighters, I couldn't et to DJ at all-nighters in the 80's/90's but I was DJing at soul nights all over the place every weekend. Reckon you all just have to keep doing what you do, show you can do it, put yourselves about and your time will come. Promoters will take notice sooner or later.
  14. The Bobby Fuller Four version of the Magic Touch is really poor in comparison to Melba Moore.
  15. I agree 100% Matt, plenty out there that only DJ cause they have a large bank balance or a mate is doing them a favour and not cause they have the ability to DJ or put a set together.
  16. Not much in Steve Cato's room that is tried and tested and many if not the majority in there have Dj'ed on the NS scene for some time. I'm not saying they don't have nothing to offer and not saying they aren't good, far from it, all are excellent (I've heard yourself and Callum) and do have plenty to offer, they and yourself and many others like you are not only the here and now but the future but to say they have more to offer than is already out there is a brave statement and far off the mark IMO. All-nighters like Lifeline, Bidds, Wilton, Rugby, Kings Hall, 100 Club to name a few, soul nights like Boomerang (best in country IMO for across the board soul music), Greatstone, Dab of Soul, Just Soul, Bidds, Bury, York, Move On, Bradford and many others again, all cover the bases and then some. I find it hard to believe musically anyone can offer something better and different to that little lot. I agree the balance between the old uns as you call us and the young uns is not right and needs to be addressed, but like I said if it doesn't happen soon it will happen over time. Hopefully if any of you are at Lifeline come over and have a chat, I'll introduce them to Andy and Mick. As said enjoy what we have now, there's something out there for everyone and like you said age is irrelevant just as long as you do the business. If not then move over!!
  17. Young uns and old uns! I'll go and draw me pension now shall I As for the dj's you mention, do they offer something other than age that is different to what is already on offer at various venues up and down the country, honest answer please? Any playlists anywhere so we can see some of what they have to offer? I see you out and about Azza and Callum as well, Liam occasionally but the others I don't think I know from Adam, do they attend venues up and down the country?
  18. The Mod scene and the northern scene are two different scenes and shouldn't be confused. Plenty of what is played on the Mod scene wouldn't go down too well at many Soul nights/nighters. Paul B, can I ask how much of what your club plays is NS, rare soul? Also would a place like Beat Boutique work in a town that doesn't have a large Student population? Don't know why people keep wanting to change something that has survived over 40 years. Sure we are getting older but there are venues and DJ's that cater for all styles, many of them stale playing the same old same but there's plenty of them playing something different and keeping it fresh, it doesn't necessarily need a younger DJ to make it any better. Granted we want more youngsters on the scene to keep it going and the youngsters turn will come behind the decks as they gain more experience, knowledge and bigger and better collections and as the old guard gives it up. There's enough going on to keep everyone happy. I also keep reading how the scene is a closed shop when it comes to DJ's, maybe it is in some cases, maybe it's because what some promoters do works so why change, maybe the music cannot be bettered by simply putting on a younger DJ???

$80 good price IMO. I dropped lucky and paid £30.

What do you call over priced?

All I can say is you got a better response than me. I searched high and low for ages with no luck until a copy came up for sale on here. Maybe it's because the new one is on it's way.
  22. Ian Clark is the one you want to ask Bob. Don't have his email to hand but sure someone will be able to help.
  23. Chalky replied to a post in a topic in Record Wants
It took about two years from beginning to look to getting a copy. No one would sell. Unless everyone flogs their old one now a new one on the way I doubt you'll be rushing in to a sale.
  24. Chalky replied to a post in a topic in Record Wants
Took me ages to get a copy. I should wait awhile as a new one is in the pipeline.
  25. Spot on Mark I've heard plenty "Dj" with big ticket items, records that you could buy a house with but the "DJ" couldn't DJ for his tea, the sets simply didn't flow, they mumble when on the mic etc. As I said earlier I would sooner hear someone with imagination than some lazy cheque book DJ.
