  1. Two great side on this one Ian, just a shame it doesn't get more plays. Cliff Steele been spinning it.
  2. some photos on my flickr page of when Syl came over for Dave Box's birthday bash few years ago. Jackie Ross came with him. https://www.flickr.com/photos/crosseyedbear/sets/72157602572561728/

If it was previously unreleased and a legitimate release then play it. I wouldn't play something that is released due to demand of the Northern scene where an original 60's US release exists. I remember someone playing the grapevine release of Bobby Rich - Theres A Girl Somewhere at a venue where the next DJ on had the original and wasn't very happy Why not get a cd player as well for some of the unreleased stuff that has made it to cd, saves the cost of a carver

some aren't UK issues, simply bootlegs.

Let's try again.....does nobody have any little snippets of info to share, the sort that doesn't take a paragraph to write?? I've also seen the odd comment that people scared to ask a question for fear of being laughed at/belittled...not here you won't so ask away no matter how trivial you might think it is.
  6. Thats the one I've been thinking of all week but couldn't remember who the artist was!
  7. That's about £860 today Ian ;-). I thought it was worth around £800 to a £1000? Ive seen it around the £800 mark couple of times, also seen it for more.
  8. can't say I've ever sniffed a set of 1200's
  9. there's a few more out there Pete, my mate got one done from Rob's copy before it went to Richard, think Rob did some as well.
  10. I was told there was three different takes, someone had all three at same time, same take except for intro (long and short) and other could be the slower one Tony mentions. I have I think scans of both long and slow at home, I'll see if I can find them when I get home. Don't recall seeing two different spelling of name?

  12. Might have failed first time round (whenever that was) but it's been worn out since the mid 80's.
  13. I personally don't think BV is worth more than £400. To suddenly jump form £350ish to almost £1k is plain ridiculous. Seb says nigh on impossible to locate....well including the one on JM's there have been 5 or 6 copies, two on bay, at least one offered for sale on here and one other elsewhere. But if some want to pay £1k for a record that has been hammered to death then thats up to them. Harvey Averne has been about years and could be got cheap, it's only last few years the price has jumped. There are others on the label that have been embraced by the Rare (Northern) Soul Scene, or parts of it, just not as widely. Mossy, get onn the Fania topic from a while ago inn SharpnEnd and educate these Northern heathens
  14. it wasn't just mods collecting this in the 80's , it was massive on the northern scene too so no doubt a few tucked away there too.
  15. https://cgi.ebay.com/Bobby-Valentin-RARE-NORTHERN-SOUL-LATIN-BOOGALOO_W0QQitemZ150520282415QQcategoryZ306QQcmdZViewItem still 6 days to go and already the fools have bid this up to over $600
  16. The last deck I bought was a Stanton t92 https://www.stantondj.com/stanton-turntables/t92usb.html more than happy with it, tough too and also USB, just over £200. Saved quite a bit compared to a Technic so more left over for vinyl
  17. I did record most of the day on the iphone. Lucy says she has no problems with me putting the sound files on here, hopefully Ady hasn't. Just got to find the time to boost the volume and upload them.
  18. Well I wouldn't buy something that is no longer made and can't get spares for. If the statement is true panasonic can't get parts so what chance us? Besides I'm quite happy with the Stanton deck I use.
  19. If it is/was a hoax you'd have though some sort of statement from either panasonic or the sites reporting the demise of technic decks.
  20. I'd like to see an official Panasonic statement, everything I've read so far is from other sources quoting Panasonic. The statement on the Resident Advisor website I posted is from two days ago and it says they are ceasing to make analogue turntables, but continuing to produce headphones under the technics name.
  21. some people simply collect memorabilia.
  22. https://www.residenta...s.aspx?id=13154 I looked on the global Panasonic site and couple of regional one and couldn't find no recent statements in the news sections. I found a copy of the Panasonic Australia letter at https://studio-lights.com/blog/technics-discontinued-1200-turntable.htm
  23. is there a listen again/podcast of these shows?
  24. think this is the statement from Panasonic.... "Panasonic has confirmed that it ceased the production of its Technics-branded analogue turntables this autumn." "After more than 35 years as a leading manufacturer of analogue turntables, Panasonic has regretfully taken the decision to leave this market. However, Panasonic will continue to sell headphones under the Technics brand." "We are sure that retailers and consumers will understand that our product range has to reflect the accelerating transformation of the entire audio market from analogue to digital." "In addition, the number of component suppliers serving the analogue market has dwindled in recent years and we brought forward the decision to leave the market rather than risk being unable to fulfill future orders because of a lack of parts." "Panasonic employees who have been working on the analogue turntable range have been redeployed elsewhere within Panasonic - many of them continuing to work in Panasonic's Audio Video Business Unit."
  25. I can't find any news Marc that Panasonic have changed their minds, all I can find is several articles saying that Panasonic will/have ceased production of the decks, most from two days ago, mixmag etc
