Soulboy - The Movie. You've Seen It So . .
I wasn't knocking you or your motives for inclusion (I thought it was Carla Thomas, didn't remember the Tony & Showmen), I was merely highlighting the fact that songs out of period had been used previousluy, yours was the only northern one that came to mind.

Event Threads And Lookbacks
well I'd prefer to see flyers on a table in the entrance to a venue, at least the promoter can take back the ones left at the end of the night. Saves on all the cleaning up too.

Event Threads And Lookbacks
There's still plenty of people out there who don't use a PC, or should I say face-book and soul source so you still have to get the message across to these, not flyering could come across as complacency. We had a discussion about flyers a while back.

Seen the name June Jackson on quite a few discs, credited as writer, arranger, producer etc. The Bootleggers on Discovery just one, he's the featured artist on the flip. Also his great outing on Imperial, Its What's Underneath That Counts.

JJ Jackson (Calla/Loma etc) is Jerome Louis Jackson. I'm sure someone mentioned years ago who June Jackson was but can't remember.

Event Threads And Lookbacks
I personally think the events section on here is vital and has probably over taken the need for flyers to a certain extent, certainly gets the word out to a larger audience on here than flyers could. Many local venues that are established maybe don't need to do as much leg work as they probably have an established set of attendees who maybe don't stray too far from home turf anyway. Usually find those that are struggling make the most "noise". Don't think the nighter side of it is too bad on here with pre event hype, usually the soul nights and that hopefully will change when the soul nights section goes the same way as the nighter section.

Event Threads And Lookbacks
I've often read a lookback post by someone and wondered if they were at the same venue as me.

Why Do Sellers Delete Sold Record Prices
if they sold it for a fiver/tenner less than the list price that's fine but why not leave the price that it was listed at. Like Dave says this is purely a research tool. So many posts asking for a value when it could be under their nose all the time.

A Piece Of Detroit Soul History
nice one H, plenty of other good informative ones down the side too, one here featuring Ron Murphy and further footage of Archer and how they actually make the stampers etc.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDmBx4R-Gas&feature=related

Why Do Sellers Delete Sold Record Prices
does that matter, most on here seen to think popsike and ebay is a true reflection of the price of a record Like John says I can never understand those who post..."pm'ed ya" on a sales topic, especially if they don't want anyone to know their business? The forum should be able to detect pm'ed ya, pm'ed ya back posts and auto delete them!

sorry to hijack the topic but when did this get first played and by whom? I remember Gary Spencer giving it plenty of turntable action.

***rare Soul***
I think the term is often used out of ignorance. Often used for something that doesn't appeal to someone or to someone who considers some elitist cause they listen to something that hasn't been hammered to death for 35 years. At the end of the day, oldies or newies, Northern or rarities, underplayed & forgotten, crossover, whatever tag you want to give it, its all the same, Rare Soul Music!
-
Why Do Sellers Delete Sold Record Prices
I've got to agree with you Dave that it would be a lot better to leave the price, something to refer back to.

Soulboy - The Movie. You've Seen It So . .
I can think of plenty of films set in a certain era that uses music not released at the time, even Paul Sadot if I remember rightly used music not discovered at the time his play was set?
