  1. sorry mate I didn't read it all properly, trying to quickly catch up
  2. yes but the drug of choice back in the day made people dance all-night, talk b*ll*cks all-night and by an large didn't attract an unruly element only there cause there was a late bar and an opportunity to try an pull. Now I like a drink with the best of 'em and back in the day I could pour it down me but the fact that alcohol wasn't available at an all-nighter made them IMHO a better experience. Alcohol brings out the c*nt in some folks who can't handle it and as said it's usually all over the dance floor. But I su[ppose times change and we have to realise that venue owners make their money from the bar and most don't give a sh*t if there was a northern night in their venue or a "normal" club night.....most prefer the normal club night as usually mnore alcohol is sold. Maybe all-nighters should go back to membership only, any membership to a soul club gets you in anywhere, bit like working mens clubs at least that would keep out the p*ss heads!
  3. but he hasn't made an authentic record, he's covered an actual 60's record. The music gives it away as a "new" recording to these cloth ears, as said earlier to programmed.

  5. It is nothing to do with promoters. It is the venue owners who usually insist on a bar, that is where they earn their money, not with th venue hire. Personally I agree alcohol at all-nighters is slowly ruining them, alcohol usually brings out the worst in people when too much drunk. I prefer the old days when a nighter started at mid-night, you did a warm up at a local soul night and everyone went to the nighter and it was buzzin' from the off, full dance floor etc. But promoters hands are tied.
  6. nothing in my playbox I wouldn't play, if I get a request and I have it I will usually play it.
  7. There is some murky story in there Pete, think they used the studio etc for money laundering. His parents I think involved in a shoot out with cops.
  8. If it is criminal for allowing this record to get turntable action then I think that Tingle record Pete has for his avatar deserves the death penalty I saw the topic on the front page Pete and I wondered how many posts before you said it was the worst record ever, you didn't let me down

Haven't seen one for a while but a few were about some time back now and again and usually around the £800 mark. One on popsike from a year ago on ebay at over $2k, bit expensive IMO. One also on there from 4 or so years ago for $961.

Kurt Harris for me is mid tempo
  13. After board and the travelling to nighters expenses, all my money went on records. First one I spent three figures on was Sir Ceasar on Ride. Was a one off till Butch got 4 or 5 copies from states. Paid £150 for it, think Carl Fortnum got one too. That would be '87 or '88 at Guy's Tony's Empress Ballroom, Blackburn nighters. I was earning about half that back then, had to borrow the rest off me dad.
  14. at a guess 1966.
  15. Usually see this for around £50 to £70 depending on who is selling and how generous they are. Always preffered the flip.
  16. Think it is a lookalike demo and it is a boot not a carver.
  17. Who's anniversary is the Ringleaders disc? Is it legit? I know of the M-pac boot?
  18. It was recorded in Dave Burton's flat in Hong Kong about 10 years ago. I did have an e-mail from DAve telling me the story but I lost it. You can even hear a mobile phone begin to ring and then Larry ad-libbing the vocals when it does. As for the Wigan 25th jobs, boots aren't they, and probably a fair few other anniversay records too. Kent no problem and would play the unissued stuff myself, but not the stuff that has seen a release.
  19. Great record IMO and seen just a couple for sale in years. Butch got one some time ago and played it out the odd time.
  20. Butch was fanastic I though Saturday at Lifeline, and the previous one, He's the best on the planet. Andy Dyson ain't far behind either IMHO.
  21. who was the seller?
  22. Like Adam says think all have labels reversed, all that I have seen have.
  23. Tim's old guide had it down as 101 and 902, the new one simply has 902.
  24. Baz, just looked and there is quite a list for the label, gonna take some time to add to the list I've posted but I'll do me best, bit busy at minute.
  25. I've more upstairs I think, will check later hopefully for you. Enjoy your sabatical and catch up when done!!!
