  1. Mistura With Lloyd Michells - The Flasher has this really had a bigger influence on the scene than the 300+ records listed after it Has it had any influence at all....I doubt it The list is basically one persons opinion and if we all sat down and wrote 500 records that we think have influenced the scene I dare say we would all have a different 500. Got to agree with Playfair, Stafford and the 80's era in general grossly ignored and under represented. You only have to look at playlist to see the influence the period still has on the scene.
  2. No not just you Dave. It's a record I've never really took to to be honest.
  3. And a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to Debs and yourself Bob.
  4. anyone got an MP3 of "Tears". Can't find it here for some reason.
  5. I remember seeing your scan Mark of the demo Would love to know more of this "Willing" track of Dereks. Send Derek my best when you see him.
  6. not that I'm aware of he didn't. Harry Starr as far as I know cut two disc, the IPG (If This Is Goodbye & Tears) and the End (Step Into My World/Another Time Another Place) release and there is also the unreleased track that came out on the End Story CD release, Live It Up if memory serves me correctly. There could well be other unreleased tracks in the End vaults????
  7. I actually don't think I have this anywhere Simon? I will have a look. I'm sure Andy R told me that the released version is just a faded out version of the longer stereo mix and not a different take in any way, could be totally wrong and talking complete boll*cks of course Been a while since I heard it.
  8. Nice one Them and Tony, quality Hope we're gonna hear you in February again?
  9. Merry Christmas Gavin and everyone else too. Hope you all have a prosperous and soulful New Year
  10. Andy said it was stereo but didn't think it was quite that much longer, sure he said it was only 17 seconds or so longer
  11. Got plenty of spins in the 80's. Heard it now and again in recent times.
  12. he's listed it a couple of times Gash, think the first time it was $1500 min bid or buy now, I forget which. I did mail him for a sound clip but he just mailed me back with his phone number
  13. The flips pretty good too. It's currently in my playbox. Nice and cheap too

he either says A two or I too, and then I think it's I want some more and I can't quite make out if it's lord or love, sounds more like lord to these cloth ears
  16. said all along popsike not always the best indicator of a records value. Too many too quick to post the popsike price when the guide books would probably be a better guide. I would sooner go with prices I still see in boxes, lists etc than popsike and ebay prices.

    why?
  18. is somebody's sales topic the place to be slagging a record off? How good a record might be I could understand!

The last Holidays I've Lost You I saw sold was £400 I think.
  20. These days it rarely takes long for a record to get uncovered or known by other DJ's or collectors even if not uncovered. If it remains covered up for years it really is a rarity and the artist wouldn't benefit at all anyway. There's been plenty of cover ups that have come from the artist in the past
  21. Demo is yes, but the issue? 400 quid rare?
  22. christ, 400 quid there's at least one a month on ebay alone
  23. Right venue conditions and policy I think you'd get the DJ's. But the thing with past eras of soul, wigan, stafford etc, the records have been there in quantity waiting to be discovered. Now, could you keep it fresh monthly let alone every other week.
  24. The scene is so regionalised these days that you really need 5,6 or 7 Dj's to have a record to break it in any decent amount of time. It's practically impossible mto break a record that is na one off. Regular nighter? would people traverl these days to a bi-monthly nighter? Due to the numbers of nighter goers, around 3 or 400 hardcore, there's not much left over for other nighter promoters. mind you I don't think that would be a bad thing in some cases. Where would the best place be these days to hold such a nighter
