Rare Soul Books
I've just managed to get hold of a copy of LA R&B Vocal groups by Steve Propes and Galen Gart. Fab read but it's out of print. I managed to get a copy from Dead Dog records in the states, think it was the last one but maybe worth a try.

A Few Values Please
I'd agree with that Pete, see just as many these days with mis spelt. There's one I think on Soul Bowls list this week, or was it Ian Clarks

Rock Candy - Dontee
The story I was told was that Rock Candy had the one side only and nothing for the flip so "Alone With No Love" was stuck on the flip and name changed from Contemplations to Rock Candy.

the boots the same or with a yellow label, thiough yoiu can tell by the print quality the boot from the original. The original has the titles scratched in the run out groove too.

Herbert Hunt I Was Born To Love You
aye seller done nowt wrong. If you were selling one at a nighter, clearly marked as a boot, and someone gave you £150, would you give him £120 back

Herbert Hunt I Was Born To Love You
if the buyer has read the description he should know full well it's a re-issue/boot. As already said you can't knock the seller in this case, he's been totally upfront. Why should he have to explain it all again just cause someone got more money than brains

6ts 100 Club Jan 20th All Nighter Cancelled
Such a shame, one place I never managed to DJ at but as a punter had many a great night down there, especially during the 80's when the place really rocked as a soul club. The heat used to hit you as you hit the bottom step and then you had to dodge Ozzie who would be trying to trip you as you wiped the sweat away

Roscoe Shelton
still sounds just as good today as it did years ago.....

Pitches, Rotherham
What about Thorne? and Stafford and other venues in the 80's who ploayed across the board???? Pitches for me filled a void left vacant by the likes of Thorne. Another venue along the lines of Pitches would be great. Know a venue just down the road from me which would be ideal if the owners would be interested, I'll have to pop along sometime and ask the question.

It's mentioned in Dave Welding's sleeve notes to the LaBeat cd grapevine put out that he was a dancer with his sister. It also mentions he later went on to become a barber. Was beaten to death by burglars 9th Feb 1982.

Roscoe Shelton
Guy says he went through lots of masters at Charly records in London, loads of Van McCoy (unreleased) as well as the Roscoe Shelton. He also says he played a alternate and more powerful take to the one released on the lp. It's all in the first Dean Anderson show he guested on, part 4.

Hammy
Had a message from Hammy who many will know that after a recent incident whilst on holiday he's been left with some serious health problems. Won't go into what etc but he tells me everything will hopefully be ok and he will fully recover. He will still be popping on here every now and then if he gets the chance but I for one hope he makes a full recovery.

Roscoe Shelton
Sure Mr Flynn worked there too as well as Dave. Guy tells the story about it on the first show he did with Dean Anderson t'other week. It's unreleased as a 45. It's on a UK cd, Up All Night or something like.

Mello Souls - We Can Make It - Legit Vinyl Release?
the geezer was aded by Jazz FM when Richard S played it on his show. As for the "boot", Ron Murphy did them and I'm told by a friend of his that they are fully legit, royalties paid etc.
