  1. maybe Grant but I think we had more choice with regards to nighters. Soul nights we just went to one were ever the nighter we went to was, or one close by. As for local soul nights probably one a week, now 6 a week anyway thats a different arguement back to the music......anyone mentioned Lee Bates...just seen one for sale on here Quality
  2. Not sure about that, back in the 80's was doing two all-nighters a weekend, two soul nights as well and often a dayer somewhere. Plenty of nighters on offer back then.
  3. I thought a chat forum was for expressing your opinions? and maybe having a good arguement now and then certainly not caused any offence here.
  4. dunno why you bothered might be obvious but from your reply it seem to me that for you to dj with originals you needed a delarks....god this is boring, Shane your right but after reading some of posts on here it's the best thing to help you nod off after sunday dinner
  5. plenty of quality records that are as cheap as pressings/boots, sometimes cheaper that are more than good enough to dj with. Dunno why when DJing is mentioned folk automatically have to assume you need records like the Delarks or that you have to spend 100's and 1000's of pounds I'd sooner hear someone who has used his or her imagination and puit a decent thoughful set together with cheap records than someone who just gets the cheque book out, right back to
  6. Keb had his last all-nighter outside London there as well....was it the Boxing night one? Think he got a standing ovation from the crowd which lasted ages and Guy was impatiently trying to start his set not much written about the Winding Wheel? anyone else go? any stories? Will dig the flyers out later....
  7. best venue I have been to The Winding Wheel. They were approached few years ago with ther intention of putting all-nighters on again and were pretty much up for it. All-nighters in this area last couple of years for other scenes as well. It's the perfect venue...large 700ish room, one for 400, another for around 150/200 and a smaller room for records

More copies found? always been about, another of those records I can't understand why people paid so much money for, It's for sale somewhere most weeks.
  9. aye, cloth ears as me dad used to say
  10. you should be able to have a listen now Derek.
  11. well I think it's crap, it's a pop record IMO, there's 100's of authentic 60's northern out there that gets overlooked for catchy crap thats instantly forgetable like Nicole Willis like you say Simon not something to get excited about

Poets easy £2000, one sold this year for that. Patience Valentine I'd say more like £400/£500, have seen sell as high as £700 in past years. William Cummings £500/£600. Brooks Brothers around £1500?
  13. or different pressing plants
  14. I've got my own on PC although needs a bit of an update wouldn't be a price guide though would it if there was no prices
  15. who says it would be a dealer who does it?
  16. How about one with all the info except the price, fill your own price column in and change as and when price shifts That would be more up to date
  17. Nick Allen - Hard Way To Go - Walas Jimmy Norman - This I Beg Of You -= Samar both nice and cheap, good records too
  18. The flip "Be My Own Boss" ain't bad either. I( gave both the odd spin or two out a while back.
  19. Abnack Records were owned by John Abnor who recorded Patterson for the label and then later for the soul subsiduary Jetstar.
  20. it's a very good look-a-like boot, there's a light blue boot as well.
  21. there is a small matrix stamp on the original in the run out
  22. and they still refer to 80's discoveries as newies
  23. what's up with dancing to the newies as well?
  24. I always play some cheap stuff in my sets. Nowt worse than thinkin' wow after hearing something and then finding out you'll never own a copy
