  1. This photo appeared last year with a few others, a couple taken from the flats across the road, Darbs, Jacko, Russ and a few others in separate shots too.
  2. Well I'm back "on shift" for the next few weekends so this looks like being my next night out. Last month (April) was my first time here and it was such a good night. Look forward to Chris's set and of course Baz who has a collection to rival most across any genre. I'll be early this time Simon so we can get the whole night in 🙃😃
  3. Chalky reviewed Eddiefoster's review on an event in Soul Nights

After a b*stard of a week on the road and it was looking like I wouldn't get out last night. But after finishing at 6, I was home for seven and out the door for 7.50. Flew o'er tops to Simon's and we were in the club at about 8.30 and sinking a well earned pint. My first time here and very impressed, full when we got there and I think Chris Churm was on the decks. John Baggaley & Dave Flynn followed I think. All three played imaginative sets which were well appreciated buy those in attendance. Phil Threlfall pulled out a set of some absolute monster northern soul you seldom hear anywhere and Derek Watmough saw the night out with another excellent imaginative set. A very refreshing night, don't recall hearing many if any classics or same old same you hear at too many venues but what was played was very much appreciated as was shown with a full dance floor for most of the night. Superb to see some more friends I hadn't seen for over two years and some meeting some for the first time as well, nice to see the legend that is Matchy looking well. I will definitely be back next month, my shifts fall right. If you haven't been give it a try you won't be disappointed. Thanks to Simon for waiting for me and again for his hospitality, top mate.
  4. Dean Anderson's Sound of Soul ™ 7th April 2022 with The Rare Soul Man himself John Manship with 2 hours of quality soul music across the genres and some intertwine discussion about the birth of soul to the world wide phenomenon it is today.
  5. John Vincent had it at Morecambe. That was sold back to John Anderson I believe. Not sure about resurrected, did it ever make it as a staple play before Butch played it? Briefly played and quickly forgotten by all accounts? Not right for the time.
  6. Chalky commented on Eddiefoster's comment on an event in Soul Nights

If I can finish work by 4 I’ll be over mate, been a while.
  7. Chalky posted a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
If you are talking about the 2012 45 then there are two reissues of the Lp in between the original Lp and this and a 2001 45 issued alongside the expansion reissue Lp.
  8. Excellent night last night at Culcheth. Didn't hear a bad record all-night in either room and a few even got me on the dance floor. Great to catch up with some I haven't seen in far too long. Thanks to top man Simon for his hospitality and hopefully will be doing it all again next week at Ashton Ukranian.
  9. Just about to set off o'tops to meet main man Simon. See ya'll toneet.
  10. Last night's show 31st March
  11. The Bar! Is it cash, card or either? Looking forward to Saturday
  12. Do you mean North Broad Street Records? If so then Colin is yer man. I think delivery of the latest release from the the pressing plant will be next month (April). @Lawman
  13. Unless done from the original masters with original labels and typesetting there will always be a difference somewhere, its just spotting that difference.
  14. 😂 I did read that many of the big sellers were a target for counterfeiters BITD, places like Detroit, New York etc not soul clubs here. Those buying new releases in the US could have been buying a counterfeit rather than a legit company release.
  15. Plenty of times
  16. I’m referring to more recent times and in particular nowadays. Back in the 60s the products were the same for the labels and the bootleggers and probably done in the same plants. There are probably plenty of bootlegs/counterfeits of Motown etc in collections where the collector doesn’t realise
  17. Tony said it may come out later in the year on vinyl once the issues with pressing plants have eased.
  18. This topic and this record proves that it is virtually impossible to replicate a 45 and fool the collecting world. Every repro or counterfeit we know about was rumbled very early on, the friends only 45s, Four Vandals palaver etc etc There is a collector who is an expert in every field used to make a disc. The paper, ink, vinyl, printing, typesetting, fonts, font spacing, everything is different since the 60s and 70s and many of the ingredients used back then can no longer be got and are illegal to use. Long live the anorak
  19. Happy to receive an e-mail from Georgia this morning that she got a first in her studies. Happy to have helped with her dissertation. One quote from one who marked her paper was particularly satisfying... Well done Georgia
  20. After watching the slapping I saw it won 'Best Documentary' and rightly so, it is fantastic. Might have to watch again later.

  22. Every decade is different to the decade previous and todays Soul music is so far removed to what we grew up with it is beyond comparison really.
  23. How do you think that reads to others, I know how it read to me. You are talking about JM and that line is in the middle? I don't know if it is about JM or buying in general but I know how it read to me.
  24. It isn't me who needs to be more careful. You just cannot help yourself. The next to last sentence practically suggests he maybe selling other fake records. I'm not suggesting you don't give your opinion nor anyone else so not sure where you got that from? I merely suggest when you do say something you continually stir the pot or if you wan it in plain English sh*t stir. JM isn't a member of the Facebook group so cannot ask, he got his answer somewhere/somehow though.
