  1. This week's show (2nd December)
  2. Struggling with 5,11,24,25,29,30.
  3. For the vast majority of us we are nearer the end than the beginning of this journey and it has to be passed onto others. I hate to see the scene splashed across the media like it is with Levanna and she does seem to court the attention but if what she does ensure the music doesn't die out with us then more power to her. Kids have very little these days to look forward to. We had youth clubs then progressed to clubs, kids don't have scene of any kind really and the music is more of less controlled by the majors. Hopefully a big bunch of these kids will find the adventure we did. not enough stay with it though, very few travel although you don't really have to travel these days.
  4. Cecil Lyde isn't covered, a fair few aren't covered up
  5. Can you uncover the cover ups, half we can't remember or figure out.....
  6. I thought this might be of interest to some of you.... As part of my research into hopefully one day writing a book on the scene post Wigan I have begun to do a timeline of event, 1980-1990. Here are scans of the first half of 1984. It is data taken from The Echoes magazine only and is all-nighters and all-dayers only, just a few soul nights that I considered important or part of a larger history for a certain Club, 6ts for instance. There are more soul nights than my lifetime allows me to research 🤣 As you can see it was pretty health all-nighter wise, certainly far more healthier than what was happening at the back end of the Wigan era, 1980/81 which was dominated by all-layers and jazz Funk. Still a lot of the Djs from the earlier years getting plenty of work but many of the new breed at the forefront. As you will see, clashing is not just a thing for today's scene.
  7. probably the last of the great record bars at nighters? There and Blackburn
  8. Not sure anything is stuck on, think the label is torn and a stamp over the torn bit, had it me hands many years ago but memory not what it was
  9. Before then, early 80s Dave Withers and Rod Shard. Not sure if it was one they got from Richard Searling along with CODs and other Combinations. @Modernsoulsucks
  10. Emory Lewis Cloud is the one in the Combinations
  11. Loved the place, one of the best venues. So many great nights and times with some great mates there. Sad that society has no room for such a great venue.
  12. What is the source of this one? The type face for the cat number, title and artist is different to the rest of the layout, more glossy in colour too.
  13. It is far rarer than the likes of Cecil Washington yet seen people saying it was expensive, I thought it was more than reasonable, cheap in fact looking at the prices Cecil, Hamilton Movements and Magnetics has been fetching of late. When was the last time they saw a Johnny Hampton for sale? Been a few years for me.
  14. Two hours of great soul music and a 3,2,1 from James Elliott
  15. I agree, very rare record. Was a grand ten years ago
  16. Dean Anderson is joined by Tim Brown and Andy Dyson for some great selections
  17. I know you don't play them games, know you generally press more than most. Its good to see them selling so quick but good music always will. Keep on doing what you are doing.
  18. Fish at first experience records has copies, or had them, I managed to get one from him...you need to press more Alex 🤪
  19. Heard someone say Jimmy Mack on Palmer was Jimmy Soul Clarke, first time I'd heard that connection
  20. Best of Philly session musicians at Virtue studio
  21. Whoever bought Four Voices also bought Pages "H&P" for over £1k 🙄
  22. Live in the studio tonight on The Sound of Soul ™ Tim Brown and Andy Dyson. Should be a good un…..
  23. If you can’t find maybe we haven’t but it has all been discussed and noted who the various Jimmy Mack’s are, except the Detroit one of course. I have certainly posted a link to the story of McMillan before.
  24. Nor am I, nor am I surprised at Freddie Houston too which has been steadily rising over the years.
