  1. HAve you got a scan of the Bobby Bennett?? Brilliant record pushed by Andy Dyson sometime back and Mich H alos played out. Was also booted on Jamaican label Affirmative, only 100 done.
  2. The best discovery in the last 20 years??? easy that one, Butch's Mello Souls - We Can Make It on Mello. Formerly known as The Del-Larks Just You And I, simply awesome, Northern Soul as good as it gets IMO. Close behind Butch's Diane Lewis c/u " You Ain't Got A Chance" and again Butch's JJ Jackson "Too Much love" c/u. Lots more but these 3 top the pile for me.
  3. Looks dodgy to me. Would need to see the whole disc too.
  4. File sharing and all the sites that are full of soul are maybe making the music too accessible?????? Maybe if the RIAA and the BPI (or whatever it's called) shut them down it will make folk go out again to hear the music again? ;-)
  5. Cheers Brian, but all credit should go to Andy Dyson and Mick H, i'm just the cyberspace advertising executive :-) Others help out too, Janine for a start hands the flyers out everywhere we go so down to a few the success of the night.
  6. Well the Lifeline crew have a policy of 60's with some 70's, upfront, lesser known, unknown, forgotten gems, anything but the played out or top 200/300. The night is advertised as such and folk warned not to ask for played out usual stuff in case they are offended by the reply ;-) The night itself was a roaring success, a sell out and a full dancefloor for most of the night, it was 11.30 Sunday morning when we left ;-) It does show there is a market there for the rare unknown, lesser known and forgotten gems and folk don't have to rely on the same old same.
  7. Well said John, couldn't agree more. If you or anyomne else fed up with watery northern soul, anthems top whatever then get along to the Lifeline all-nighter on 17th April and hear the rarest of the rare. Not just rare for the sake of it but dance floor orientated rare. The last one was a sell out, the only one yet at Sheridans. So if you want tickets got to the ad elsewhere on this site for Andy or MickH's contact details or give me a shout.
  8. One that Andy Dyson has been playing out. Certainly seems to be indemand once more.
  9. Legit or not, it's no better than a boot IMO. Could have nade it even more "legit" and authentic by including both sides of Tangeers. If it is legit the record company are just exploiting the current popularity of the two sides, same as bootleggers do ;-)
  10. I can remember you telling us all Sean but couldn't remember his name...memory not what it used to be ;-)
  11. My play list is in another post on this forum along with a review from Janine and Derek Pearsons plays when we double decked Saturday night/Sunday morning.
  12. Judging by the prices being paid these days, every record I bought in my collecting days were a bargain.
  13. Can't remmeber his name but the guy responsible for the ads is a soulie (I think) from Carlisle. He is a mate of a soulie on another forum (also in advertising), he did tell us his name etc but forgot ;-) What input Kev R had I don't know, will have another read of the article.
  14. Fetchin' in the region of £100 these days, couldn't give these away at one time, always the case. Was booted on EEE although they used Ember Entertainment Enterprise instead of the EEE and booted on BMR.
  15. Oh yes the cobbled dancefloor!!! If folk thought 100 Club bad at times got sod all on this floor lol. Can remember the wedding night and maybe one or two other nights where we had to go in another room while locals cleared out.
  16. Gary deffo spun it in the 80's and 90's, got it on a tape off him. Carl now has it and is the only gunuine one, anyone else playing it is playing a cut/emidisc.
  17. Was played at Stafford by Butch. If I remember rightly neither the Temptones or Diane Lewis are cover ups...both are unidentified and they are just the given name if you like, no name to cover up. Butch still plays both and both in my top 10. Can remember the Swan nighters in Mansfield...Soul Power, still got some flyers and membership (credit card type).
  18. Oops forgot to log in ;-)
  19. Apart from about £950 being one difference, the gold one's are boot/2nd issues. Can't remember if they are legit or not.
  20. I've had the odd one or two, neither e-bay nor paypal ask you to change your details via e-mail, all done when you log on to respective site. Delete them and report to ebay/paypal.
  21. Suspense over, it's played as the Temptones - and is called "Thats When You Know Your In Love, studio acetate. First played at Stafford.
  22. Used to be Gary Spencers and I thought this was where Carl got it from?????
  23. Think it's more a case of the record settling back towards it's true value...mind still got about £30 to come off before near true value :-) Loads of these about, usually two or three copies on ebay, on lists every week so why do folk pay these prices. As for Futures worth about a fiver IMO in the real world ;-) but some folk paying silly money.
  24. Hi Grant, got the tape cheers, is playing as I type. The track of Butch's is an unissued studio acetate he plays as the Temptones - That's When You Know You're In Love. First played at Stafford. Great record.
  25. Has been discussed elsewhere so i'll post what came about!! There were 2 slightly different versions of this track, both of which came from John Anderson; The Kontets on an audodisc acetate which was the version Pat Brady played as "Stanley Mitchell" the other one landed with Dave Thorley, I'm presuming this is Roger B's copy. Tis on summat like International Studios Acetate (defo Chicago).
