You might be interested to know that I picked up a nice original Celest Hardie on Reynolds from a trustworthy US collector a couple of months back for $550 US (not cheap but then still less than it would cost on ebay last week of 660+ , and less than what it would fetch at a Johnny Fish and Chips Auction) BUT then when it arrived - to my pleasant surprise - found that it was clearly AUTPGRAPHED by Celest herself !!! The guy never mentioned to me that it was autographed by Celest !!!

Absolutely right ! The Futures were a fantastic SOUL group (never disco!) who did three fantastic LPs (two on PIR and one on Buddah) and have been appreciated for ages for their great stepper " Aint No Time Fa Nuthin' " Party Time Man is a great soul dance record , period. Bet it gets reactivated in 4 or 5 years time and goes back up to 100 quid !!! !

Great record Billy ! I'll have one too if anyone's got a second copy ! Tell you what though Billy, I've always thought that was a BANJO playing rhythm on that record , not a guitar as such ! Bizarre , but it works !

Just seriously for a moment everyone : back in the 80's I used to be an avid reader of Voices from the Shadows and tried to collect a fair amount of contemporary , ie 80's , US soul on 7" vinyl (remember we used to call it "Real Soul" at the time !!!). Up to the late 80's you could still find the odd excellent US soul release on 7" vinyl. But from about 92' on , my attention drifted back to 70s rarities and 60s newies. The list of worthwhile 90's soul that previous posts in this thread have listed appear to be mainly UK artists or US "urban" or "garage" influenced acts. My question is, is there any TRADITIONAL soul sounding ( southern soul slanted if you know what I mean ) US (not UK ) product from the 90's that could make it on Rare (modern /crossover) Soul dancefloors today ?

Gotta agree with JOT , that the Independents LP version is the BEST version ! (respect to Leroy Hutson's version though) With Maurice Jackson version, once again methinks a case of the rare soul collector saying that the rarer record is the better version ! Get the Independents LP for around a tenner !!!!

Hi guys ! Thought you might be interested to know that I have the Dynamics on an AUSTRALIAN RCA demo !

Over the years seen wildly differing values for this UK only released LP. What would be the current market price ? Also which tracks from the LP were most popular on UK dance floors?

Has this been booted , and if so , how do you tell the original from the boot ? Someone has also showed me a copy with labels reversed . Is that an original ?

Anyone got an idea as to value ? Not listed in Fish & Chips catalogue....

Here's one that will outrage everyone !!! Bobby Vee " Let Nobody Love You " (US Liberty LP) Yes THAT Bobby Vee !!! Brilliant !!! And yes , it beats Virginia Blakely on Mojo hands down !!!

Doug Parkinson is more than just a minor figure on the Australian music scene. One of the few truly great soul vocalists outside of the USA, he is a legend of beat / rnb groups such as the Questions in the 60s, then in the 70s fully pursued his first love of soul music , ie Ill Be Around. His voice has been intermittently heard for 35 years on OZ TV commercials as he has had to make a living !!! Not tatooed or a heavy metal singer !!! Look out for an amazing original tune he recorded on Southern Star called "Now Youre On Your Own " A brilliant 70s modern soul record !!!

As good a candidate as any for rarest of the rare 70's/Modern would be the Gloria Scott 7" on Australian Casablanca; general consensus is that there were only a handful at most issued for promotional purposes when the Astor company in Australia gained the rights to the US Casablanca label...

Can anyone please find me a copy of Stevens & Foster "I Wanna Be Loved" ? Thanks!
