William Powell
Interesting comments from a Soul Source "guest" in the last post on the thread on "Heartache Souvenirs" producer Miles Grayson . Guests mark.w, on Sep 30 2007, 10:22 PM, said: I'm pretty sure Wiliam Powell owned a record store in LA when he did the Power-House tracks. Sometime around this coming out he was shot. May be something like the story of "Try Me(For Your New Love)" and Junior Mccants family having the record pulled after his death.

Kenny Carlton - Blue Rock
The notes in the Goldmine CD "Lost & Found" speculate as to whether Kenny Carlton was in fact Kenny Carter who recorded for RCA. Anyone?

Kenny Carlton - Blue Rock
Looking for some bio information on Kenny Carlton who recorded "Lost and Found" on Blue Rock. There doesn't appear to be any information on him. Was Kenny Carlton a pseudonym? Was his Blue Rock release his only recording? Any information would be appreciated. Many thanks

Platters - Back To Detroit - Choice Of Singles?
Sadly there is little visual footage of the Platters from their"soul" years. However there is this nice clip from the late 60's with Sonny Turner front and centre ...

Billy Harner - I Got It From Heaven - Sound Gems
Would just like to see it Steve because there appear to be no photos whatsoever of the record on the net and none listed on popsike or collectors frenzy, discogs and the other usual media places. Literally nothing (that I can see or find).

Billy Harner - I Got It From Heaven - Sound Gems
Could someone be kind enough to post a scan of this record, both sides please. Many thanks.

Gaslight - Drifting Away
Rare psychedelic 70s TV performance of Detroit's Gaslight. The Gaslight evolved out of the Young Sirs (including two members of the group), originally recording one single as Butch and the Newports and then four singles as the Gaslight. Lead singer is Oliver Cheatham.

Simon Soussan Found
Don't forget the vocal to Afternoon Of The Rhino !

Simon Soussan Found
Think it was one of Don Cornelius's personal traits - he almost never shook hands with artists on the show. He would just climb up onstage with the microphone and start interviewing. Also calls Soussan "Simone" as if his first name is the female form of the word ....

Simon Soussan Found
Soussan obviously had an uncanny ability to win a person's confidence ... even that of Soul Train's Don Cornelius who deemed Soussan important enough to interview him on stage following Arpeggio's performance on Soul Train on 17 March 1979.

Jackie Lee - Oh My Darling
- Donnell Pitman 'love Explosion'
Perhaps Floyd Smith owned the Ripple masters ?- Donnell Pitman 'love Explosion'
Only 5 noted on popsike and 3 of those were in poor condition. The other two were VG+only so the fact that the most recent one reached $585.00 US is probably not a good indication. It's not only a superb record but very elusive. If an Exc or M- copy came up for on auction on ebay today, it would not surprise if it reached 4 figures ($US) . But whether an ebay price is the right price is of course up to the individual. Apart from the strong interest in the record on the rare soul scene, there is high demand for this record from disco and boogie collectors; and there was never any original 12" release. And despite the fact that it clocks in at 6 minutes 12 seconds on the 7", the sound is loud and clear, and its on vinyl (not styrene).- Ivor Jones- "soul Cuising" [Thames Boat Party]Aye Aye Captain
Nice tunes. Any chance you can also get the playlists from the other DJ's for you to post as I suspect none of the others are members on here ?- Melinda Marx Demo
The best ... version of Judy Street's "What" ??? Think you better start ducking for cover ... - Donnell Pitman 'love Explosion'
