  1. Anyone have one to trade ? I have plenty of northern to trade for it !
  2. Did this ever appear on a 7" - whether original or some sort of reissue on the funk or jazz scenes ? If you have one, I'll have it. Cheers.
  3. I know at least one of you out there has one - and I would love to receive a PM from you !!!
  4. I've also had a few John Gary Wiliams sealed LPs pass through my hands over time and they were heat damaged as well ... always brings to mind Rob Bowman's book on Stax's last dying days in and around '74 when the company was apparently having difficulty finding pressing plants to press up records for release to try to keep the company afloat and stave off the receivers etc .. not only John Gary Williams LPs but I've seen a fair amount of other Stax label releases both 45s and LPs from around '74 of poor quality vinyl , often dimpled , edge warped etc
  5. Is it fair to assume that all material released by P - Vine in Japan through the 70s and 80s was legitimately licensed from the legal rights owners ? Or not ? Have noticed over the years on here and other forums and media, in several specific instances at least, casting doubts on some of P - Vine's licensing practices .
  6. Has Sam Dees been reissued on vinyl ?
  7. Anyone have this on a 7" ?
  8. Aural evidence would suggest otherwise - a close listen to the LP and to his USA 45 and then a listen to the later "To Win You Love " 45 and to my ears it is absolutely plain as day that they are one and the same person/vocalist. And they are all Chicago label recordings , even if some of his 6Ts tracks may have been recorded in Detroit. As we soul fans have found from time to time, in later life some of our soul heroes have either simply forgotten about their earlier recordings (although I believe the Talkin Bout Jones 45 was a regional break out around Chicago - perhaps our friend Bob(a) might expand on that ) . In Bobby's case though , as he was still trying to make it in the business in the early 80's , he may in Mike Ward's interview have deliberately disowned his earlier recordings as he may have been trying to establish a new persona as Bobby Jonz and not run the risk of somebody dredging up what might - in his eyes at least - have been raw inferior records from the distant past that never really gave him a big hit or made him a star.
  9. On a vaguely similar Jackie Wilson theme, I've also wondered why there are seemingly so few photographs (ie either press, publicity or news print media) of Jackie from his soul years (let's say '66-75) other than that same very well known one from '66-'67 of Jackie cupping his hand to his mouth ??? Also seemingly so little video and film footage from the soul years. To my knowledge , there are no contemporary clips ( on youtube at least ) of Jackie doing his three biggest hits from the soul years - Whispers, Higher & Higher and Sweetest Feeling ??? There is an appearance he did on a Jerry Lee Lewis special from the early 70s but precious little else . Sure everyone knows the story of how manager Nat Tarnopol ruled Jackie with an iron fist but that still doesn't explain the lack of visual material of Jackie through those soul years ???
  10. I've sent word out and will PM you when I have the contact details .
  11. Jim Regarding the man who is harder to find than Lord Lucan, I can happily confirm that he is alive and well and in fact turned up last week on the first night of the annual Sydney (Oz) Soul Weekender - his first venture out in ages mind - where he danced like a madman solidly for an hour until I blew the main amp in the venue during my set ............ the rest of the night was limited to low volume music on one small speaker in a corner of the room !!! Shame he doesn't bring his records with him to do a DJ spot on the rare occasion that we do see him these days , we used to laugh when he did because he always lugged in a bloody great suitcase with about 600 45's in it !!! He doesn't have 15 kids but enough to keep him busy as a dad .... And seriously , he is looking trimmer than ever , 20 years younger one would have to say ...
  12. Donnell Pitman Love Explosion / Vivilore Jordan All Work No Play Can anyone please help with these ? Thanks.
  13. Definitely no Aussie Dave
  14. Come on then ... still waiting for the flood of people telling me they want to sell this.
  15. The flip of the Dave & Vee "Take Me On Your Magic Ride" is superb uptempo Northern too . Great double sider !
  16. Am not having much luck with this - surely somebody has one to sell ?
  17. Ivor I also have both issues of the Wanted Dead or Alive 45 - on styrene and on vinyl and both are legit. In fact many still think that Wanted Dead or Alive was/is an LP only track . .. it's definitely far less common than Cashing In . Only 3 on Popsike whereas there are 4 pages of Cashing In on Popsike
  18. Surely the demo must be uncommon ? https://www.popsike.com/northern-soul-voices-of-east-harlem-cashing-in-demo/120283235818.html
  19. https://www.popsike.com/Northern-Soul-Wigan-Classic-VOICES-OF-EAST-HARLEM-Cashing-In-LISTEN/350499189736.html Look at the font on this .... and the title on separate lines. Real or boot ?
  20. Is this a real one or a boot ? https://www.popsike.com/Northern-soul-THE-VOICES-OF-EAST-HARLEM-CASHING-IN/250182927726.html
  21. So often people talk about there being a bootleg 45 of this (done in the 70's) but , after all these years, I've yet to see one .... either in the flesh or in a photo. Anyone have a photo of a bootleg copy or can give clear and detailed pointers on how to spot the bootleg ... if it even exists , that is ???
  22. Sean I'm not sure if you mean to say that there were no US Jay Boy releases after the Doris Willingham US release , because there definitely were ... such as the Hogs "Its All Coming To Me Now" which also got an interesting green coloured label Jay Boy release in Germany .... https://www.45cat.com/record/rrk12002
