Which Was The First Country To Use The Tamla_Motown Logo
Tony W & G in Australia also released the Marvellettes "Please Mr Postman" and, amazingly, Bunny Paul's "I'm Hooked". But it all started in Australia with Bob Kayli on London (that's if you count Bob Kayli as a Motown record) and then Barrett Strong "Money" and the Miracles "Shop Around" both on London. Then there was the Spinners "That's What Girls ... " on Aussie Astor in 1961 (again that's if you count the Spinners as a Motown record) and then, as you say, HMV and Stateside and finally Australian Tamla Motown. Also, interestingly, there was actually an Australian Tamla Motown Appreciation Society, based in Melbourne, whom I understand were associated with Dave Godin and the UK counterpart.

Don't Mess with Syl Johnson
Mike, Syl came to Australia for the first time around 18 months ago and was brilliant live (backed by the Bamboos) and it was obvious from his demeanour and the language he used on stage (especially during "Ms Fine Brown Frame") that he really did come from the mean streets of Chicago and is not a guy to be messed with, even in his mid 70's ! He made such an impression that he's back again performing in Sydney next weekend. Has he ever performed in the UK ? Surely he would be an excellent attraction to UK promoters for a Northern/rare Soul weekender ???

Suspicion - Detroit Prophets / Originals
As with many of their other second tier acts like the Monitors, Spinners, Velvelettes, Contours etc and having just signed a male vocal group in the Isley Brothers who - at least initially - Motown were gearing to make one of their bigger vocal group acts, the Originals weren't a priority for Motown at that time in '66. The Originals only became important to Motown when they decided to turn them into Motown's version of the 5th Dimension ...

More Ace Help Wanted, Please
No chance of it being Aussie Sean, as there was no Aussie "Atco" label as such. All Atlantic related releases in Australia were released either on the Green or White and Green Atlantic label, and before that on the Black and Silver London - American label, very similar in design to the UK London - American label.

Suspicion - Detroit Prophets / Originals
So, can we accurately say how many original acetates of this tune are in existence or are likely to exist ? And is anyone aware if any have ever been sold on ebay, or through lists ? What would be the current market value of one of the original acetates?

Joe Bataan "im No Stranger" Fania 737 Current Value Please
Note also that Sunny and the Sunliners had two different releases of 'I'm No Stranger', first on Teardrop and then picked up for national distribution by London (in the US) .... except that the London release is a markedly different and vastly superior take than that on Teardrop which is fine in itself by the way, but the London release really is the business.

Delilah Kennebreuw
Ady Same "musical composition" but different lyrics and not the same studio backing track as "Burn Baby Burn" Mel Williams. If I had to choose between the two I would take Delilah any day ... superior to listen to and superior to dance to ... although nothing wrong with the Mel Williams "version" either, it's just that Mel Williams is rarer ! We've had a few topics on this previously. Cheers.

Ground Hog On Turbo 010
Joe Richardson was born in New York City, NY on February 2, 1940. An artist that straddled the fence between soul and blues, at one time he was a touring guitar player for The Shirelles. He made his debut recordings in 1959 under the name Tender Slim. In 1960 he recorded as Fender "Guitar" Slim cutting one 45 (and a half) for Enrica. In 1962 he went back to the name of Tender Slim dropping by Herald Records for another 45. Nothing was heard from him again until 1967. Once again as Tender Slim he recorded for Veep. 1968 found him recording for Hot Biscuit as Tender Joe Richardson with two more singles. His last documented 45 was for Jad in 1970 recording as Joe "Ground Hog" Richardson. At least two of his songs "The Choo Choo" for Veep, and the flip-side of this 45 for Hot Biscuit "Hip Huggin' Mini" have became underground soul classics. Nothing else is known about him. "Tender" Joe Richardson:Vocals & Guitar Other musicians unknown Recorded in New York City, N.Y. 1968 Originally issued on and this recording taken from the 1968 single (The Hot Biscuit Company 1451) (45 RPM)

What releases on Toni Lamarr .... apart from the two on Buddah ? Anyone have any biographical information on the artist ? A press photo ? A protege of Van McCoy perhaps ?
