Always thought they were a good band too. Their first album was excellent (including Tribute and a good version of Living In the Footsteps of Another Man), whilst their second was an album of covers produced by Ian Levine (I think). And best of all, also look out for Around and Around from 1995. Maybe not rare soul, maybe 'commercial' but still good quality music. Cheers Steve.

How about these (nestling on the shelves at home) - Final Touch - I'm Ready to Give Up My love - Epic Charles Earland - Drifting - Mercury Ace Spectrum - Keep Holding On - Atlantic I've also got a 12 inch acetate of The Drifters (looks to be an original!) - Pour Your Little Heart Out (now spare as I have a seven)! Really love the China Burton side as well. Cheers Steve.
  6. I'm gonna try to get this thread up to 9 pages, so here's a few more Philly gems for you people to keep a look out for - O Jays - Let Life Flow - Anthemic dancer from the Message In the Music Album Instant Funk - So Glad I'm the One - TSOP 45 (Bunny Sigler vocalises on a nice 2-step b-side to It Ain't Reggae..) Bily Paul - People Power - Don't think anyone has mentioned this 45 On the subject of Anthony White, Stop and Think It Over - I thought this came out on a 45 - can anyone confirm? What about The Jones Girls - Keep It Coming - did that get a single release? Cheers Steve.
  7. Bobby Bennett came out on a reissue 12 a few years ago via Soul Brother, I think. A superb side whatever the format, thats for sure!! Steve.
  8. Hi all, Anyone tell me more about this track? Caught the tail-end on Solar and wouldnt mind acquiring a copy. Many thanks Steve.
  9. Hi all, One thats been missed off but seems to go for money is the 12 of Love You Direct but the O Jays - 1984 12. Have seen this for 50GBP, presumably because of interest from boogie collectors and I guess Philly sides weren't pressed in any real quantity come the 80s. A great side IMHO though. A really great thread and good to see such interest in renewing the Philly Sound. Cheers Steve.
  10. Larry Wu - an excellent 12 IMHO By the way, the B side of the Skip Mahoney 12 - And Its Love is excellent also. Cheers Steve.

How much for the Bunky reissue, I wonder? Cheers Steve.
  12. Hi, I have I Want to Hold On To You on a seven. I'd be tempted to part with it as I'd probably rather track down an album or 12 anyway. Cheers Steve.
  13. This is a good thread and its good to see some forgotten sounds listed. Why, though, do some contributers see the need to slag off certain tunes at the same time as praising others? Its all a matter of preference - some people like the Paul Simpson remix of Lets Get It On and The Waters - Whats on Your Mind, me for one!! The fact is that Lets Get It On works better in a club environment, which is why its played out more often. This probably a political remark in itself but can't we keep the politics out of the forum and just get on with enjoying the music? Cheers Steve.
  14. Got a spare for sale if still want it. A bit crackly at the start but a reasonable copy otherwise. PM with an offer. Cheers Steve.

Morning forumers! Listened to the Thompson Bros - You Brought Love Into My Life recently (a CDR burn, not my own copy), and what a superb tune it is. I understand this is quite rare and yet I also believe it was released on WMOT, a major concern. So.......is it that rare? Whats the current value and anyone like to sell me one? Cheers Steve.
  17. Hi all, Anyone know the value of an excellent 45 by the Implements on Phillips - Look Over Your Shoulder. Cheers Steve.

  21. No 1 is William Bell - Passion No 2 is Horace Faith - I Can't Understand It Both excellent, by the way! Cheers Steve
  22. Great on 7 and 12, although the remix on the 12 isn't one of the best! Another Salsoul killer! Steve
  23. More recently, I watched Alicia Keys sing You Don't Know My Name live on Top Of The Pops - absolutely superb, seriously soulful as well! Also thought the John Legend Ordinary People remix (his best effort, by far) was an excellent soulful release as well. Steve.
