Where To Buy Carton Record Mailers In The Uk ?
I've been using the album versions of these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100-MusicMax-LOCKTAB-CARDBOARD-7-VINYL-RECORD-MAILERS-/400174015559?pt=UK_Packaging_Materials&hash=item5d2c3ae447 And think they're pretty good, couple of cardboard stiffeners, plus the mailer is cardboard too, so it's like four sheets of card thick. Bit more expensive but much, much better than the card envelopes. Plus, they're easier to re-use at the other end...

The Motown 7S Box Set: Rare And Unused
Eh? How is £45 not a lot of money? It's only on here that people say things like "oh, that's a nice cheapie, you can pick it up for about £50..." Like spending £50 is just like loose change or something. I've ordered a copy of this box set and am dreading it arriving incomplete or tracks jumping etc. I don't think paying £45 for a faulty product is something people should have to put up with, no matter what you're buying. Rant over!

Sugar - Extremely Brave Rec
Sorry I can't add too much, picked this up about ten years ago since I collect funk. But, something I found interesting is it shares a similar label design to Andrew Brown "You Made Me Suffer" which is on Brave, Sugar is on Extremely Brave. Checking the scans, both records have catalogue numbers starting BOS. So there's a connection there. https://www.popsike.com/FUNK45SuGaRTAKINCARE-OF-YOUR-MAIN-MANLISTEN/130063982391.html https://www.popsike.com/Funk-45-ANDREW-BROWN-You-Made-Me-Suffer-on-Brave/260540419482.html

Looking for: The Ambassadors "Ain't Got The Love Of One Girl On My Mind" (Arctic) BUT the re-issue, with Ambassadors Theme on the flipside. This is likely a bootleg, so I'm sure someone will have had an attack of guilt and want relieved of it... Any help please PM me - thanking you in advance...

Has Sandy Golden On Masterpiece Been Booted?
That's something I hadn't actually considered NOT that I'm suggesting it's happened here. But if you wanted to bootleg this record, and it costs, say, £500 to press 500 - it would make more financial sense to auction ONE and sell it for £4,000 odd (and bin the remaining 499 copies) than it would to sell the 500 copies at a fiver a pop...

Has Sandy Golden On Masterpiece Been Booted?
It was "placed there" two years ago? In the collection of a dead person? Well, that seems to have backfired a bit, then... Surely we have all bought unplayed store stock 45s which look as new as the day they were pressed 40 years ago? Mr Dobson or Mr Manship, in the name of all that is rare, PLEASE PUT US ALL OUT OF OUR COLLECTIVE MISERY!!! At least before this thread reaches 400 posts...

Just to save everyone else the hassle of looking it up, the 45 in question is "Ramblin' Rose". Don't say I'm not a kind, considerate fellow...

Has Sandy Golden On Masterpiece Been Booted?
I think people on here would be keen to hear how you acquired this record... Did you say earlier that this copy was found two years ago? Which makes the "other" copy recently found mentioned in this thread just a co-incidence. I love the idea that bollock-rare northern soul singles can be found here in the uk in the unlikeliest places... I always assume you need to be in the US to find the rare stuff. Or have very deep pockets...

Has Sandy Golden On Masterpiece Been Booted?
If the blue label Phoenix single is a re-issue, where can you buy it? Why has nobody on here seen a copy? Even on Discogs it says that "0" people own it and "1" person wants it... And if someone was going to bootleg or re-issue it, then surely they'd just make an identical copy of the yellow label rather than change credits on it... I'm a relative new-comer to collecting soul, but the yellow label copy is distributed by Jamie/Guyden - which is a Philadelphia set-up, right? The blue label copy has a Hollywood, California address on it. So, is it not more likely that the blue label copy is the original California local release which was LATER picked up for national release by Jamie/Guyden, making the yellow label the "re-issue" - or slightly later pressing? As for changing publishing details, I would have thought that was very common practice - when licensing something to just change the publishing deal (and even the writing credits in many cases...) Once again, all pure conjecture, I just can't see why someone would re-issue this, and then put a load of extra made up information to make it look LESS like an original record. BUTCH, PLEASE PUT US ALL OUT OF OUR COLLECTIVE MISERY! PLEASE!!!!!!

Has Sandy Golden On Masterpiece Been Booted?
Sorry, I think you misunderstood my point. I didn't mean Soussan's boots looked like the original records he was bootlegging. I meant his labels would just have looked like whatever bog standard labels the typesetter was knocking out quickly in the seventies. Obviously there was no attempt to copy the 60s designs. So, what I meant was that in the seventies hundreds of titles would be passing through pressing plants - pop, soul, country, prog, rock etc. So Soussan's boots just looked like any other label - so his labels are the same as seventies originals. And not the hundreds of other records looked like his... This is pure conjecture, and you might be about to tell me that it's a very distinctive look... It wouldn't have been letraset, the labels would have been manually set up with metal letterpress type. Quickly!

Where To Buy Carton Record Mailers In The Uk ?
Hmmm, just wondering if it's worth buying 45s off Moerer just to get his stiffeners. Buy 25 singles and you'd have 100 stiffeners... Just the excuse I needed. THANKS!!!!!!!!!

Has Sandy Golden On Masterpiece Been Booted?
Even if the label was typeset by the same guy who typeset Soussan's boots, there must have been hundreds of releases coming out at the time. It would surely have been a case of Soussan's boots looking the same as the originals and not the other way round? As a designer, the slightly different logos on each side is interesting. The typesetter must just have run out of letter "r"s and gone with another style. They also missed the bracket off the end of the matrix number on side two. You can tell I lead an exciting life... :-}

Where To Buy Carton Record Mailers In The Uk ?
Yup, it's a right pain sending out 15 parcels - if only LESS people bought LOTS of records!

Where To Buy Carton Record Mailers In The Uk ?
They're not really carton mailers though, are they? More like envelope mailers. I thought you meant the more boxey ones. Which sounds wholesale also do, if you search for cruciform mailers. Handy if you're sending abroad or two or three single in the one order...

7" Company Record Sleeves Wanted Now Sorted
Why would you want repro sleeves? Might as well just get repro records to put in them... Always think it just looks a bit wrong. Not having a go, mind. Hope you get originals sorted for them. Manship has a section on his site for company sleeves. Not cheap, but some of them are great!

But maybe ALSO put they're sold beside them, in case someone (like me) wants to buy the Johnny Watson - and by powers of deduction, work out that they're actually SOLD...

New 100 Club Anniversary Singles
I don't want to appear to knock any parties here, just wanted a bit of debate. The fact that there were copies of this for sale, the very next morning got me wondering about capitalism at work... The night costs £20 to get in, it's usually £12 - so the free single costs £8. Does this make people more likely to sell them, to recoup their costs if they're not collectors? If the singles are worth £50 immediately AFTER the night, is there any reason why Ady shouldn't just up the door price to £50? If people want to keep their singles, great. If they want to sell them, they've had a great free night out? Selling the free singles just seems to reek of opportunism, really. If nobody buys the spares for £50 and instead reasons "the night cost £20 to get in, I'll pay you £20 - you've had a free night out, I've got a rare single" then everyone's happy - maybe I'm being a bit naive.
