Record Postage From Usa
Of the 45s I've sold on e-bay and shipped to UK & Europe in the last 2 years, I don't believe I've seen postage at less than $4.80. Generally runs between this and $5.60 for one 45 in a cardboard mailer + and usually 2 inserts. I charge $6.00 to be safe.

Thrift Store Digging
Russ - just caught this sentence: I have travelled a lot too & again, stopped at Thrift Stores along the way, much to the annoyance of my family. Glad to hear I'm not the only one driving my wife crazy stopping at every thrift shop along the way. This summer I expanded the area I look in, stopping at yard sales and estate sales, still only finding LPs, if I come across records at all (low percentage of yard sales seem to have records). I seem to do better at flea markets, but that is still hit or miss. Maybe a sign up where people can tear off your phone number at some local grocery stores or other places that have high foot traffic? You may get some calls, though, where a guy tells you about his rare Barbara Streistand records, like I did once........

Thrift Store Digging
I almost never find any 45s at the thrift shops in my area, let alone soul 45s. Although, last summer, I was surprised to actually find a mix of decent condition 45s at a thrift, from doo-wop to soul to blues. I ended up buying them all and selling the doo-wop and blues stuff. The soul titles were Judy Freeman and Blackrock on RCA (not 'Hold On'), Sam Dees on Chess, Fred Hughes 'Don't Let This Happen To Us' demo. Nothing rare, more of a pleasant surprise. As mentioned earlier, if record shopping at thrifts, it is probably best to expand what you buy - sometimes there are titles that can be purchased & sold for a decent profit.

Latin Influenced Soul
Not exactly what you are looking for, but on the Fania All Stars Live Vol. 2 LP there is a cover of 'If This World Were Mine' sung by Joe Bataan and "Miss La La", which is pretty good.

Searchin For Tunes In The Usa
I have yet to bump into any decent 45s at a yard sale here in the States. Ocassionally there may be a decent soul 45 at a flea market, but that is not as often as I would like. At best it's LPs I'll buy to make some money on & then put towards a decent record. I did stumble on about 20 45s at a thrift shop last year, which I was quite happy about, as I never find decent 45s at thrift shops.. The 45s were a mixed bunch, from doo-wop to blues to r'n';b to soul. The soul 45s were Fred Hughes "Don't Let It Happen to Us" on Brunswick, Sam Dees "Can You Be a One Man Woman" on Chess, and Judy Freeman & Blackrock "All We Need Is A Miracle" on RCA. I sold the 2 doo-wop 45s - it paid for the lot and I had a few dollars left over.
