When visiting a good friend a few weeks ago he was playing some Lp tracks of the Bobby Taylor and the Vancouvers Lp when he asked did i recognise any of the members..To my surprise there was TOMMY CHONG!! from the famous Cheech and Chong movies. i think that Cheech was also in the group for a while...i then remembered that Jimmy Hendrix also played for this band as well as rythm guitar for a while. This is probably old news to you all but was news to me..really loved the Cheech and Chong movies..here's a wee pic with Tommy Chong with the band.. Before meeting Cheech Marin (who moved to Canada to avoid the draft) Tommy played rythm guitar in the Motown group Bobby Taylor and the Vancouvers. He wrote the lyrics to the hit song "Does Your Mama Know About Me?" Chong, a half Chinese half English/Irish boy growing up in Calgary in the 40s, experienced his fair share of rascism. He gravitated towards black music and culture, which he later cited as a major influence on Cheech & Chong's humor. Thought this was interestin... Liam

this came out on two diff colour labels yes? red and white and blue (or green) and white? both on Calla... i remember hearing someone play it a year ago and thinkin there is a slight difference in the chorus as in when she says " with my love and what you got we could turn the world around" on one there is a slight pause and the other there isnt...not sure why this popped up in my head this morning.. just wanted to know if there is any difference or maybe i had a few too many that particular night!?

just to confirm the suspicions YES the original video posted was me.. i did have a haircut too! heehee that was well spotted Soulgirl.. I was asked to make a little clip of dancing by some friends who wanted to see what the northern soul dancin was like and i remember how frustrating it was for me when i first got into northern soul and didnt have anyone to watch over in Ireland (apart from once a month one regular at the Belfast Soul Club who i picked up tips from) So if it helped new blood on the scene who wanted to dance etc then why not..I'm not the best by no means, but i love it and it wasnt so long ago i nearly knocked myself clean out in my bedroom trying to spin etc. Thanks for the kind words though...oh and come to Belfast All-nighter in October y'all!! check it in events, yes a shamless plug!
