Cookie. When i first met all the Irish lads about 10 maybe 12 years back when they where all young kids ( still are ) they didnt know oldies as such. They knew and owned a lot of the stuff that was getting played on the scene back then but where gobsmacked at oldies like what you listed. They took it all in there stride, embraced it and loved them for what they are "class soul records" They now have most of the stuff in there own collections. Unless they,ve moved them on for some of there rare stuff. The point to all this is they had and still have a willingness to accept the whole package of northern soul without sticking it in to different rooms. Modern, R&B etc etc. Its all part and parcel of what makes it what it is. If your gonna go out and moan about the music.Think first Dont forget you may have heard a certain record last time you went anywhere but i bet there,s loads saying i aint heard that record for years. Best ones i ever seen was those from the Cricketer nighters in Wigan late 80,s early 90,s post card size one was a reproduction poster of when Betty Wright was live at Wigan another was of a little black kid in a ghetto with no shoes on. R.E Gil Scott Heron the Bottle. The only other one i can remember was a old cricketer with a bat in hand. I,m sure someone on here will have scans available. Steve

Phil. I got into it properly when 2 of my fav nighters closed in the same year. Bretby and Tony,s and Winsford was heading the same way and i couldnt stand the thought of losing another nighter so i was asked to help run the place. With going everywhere at the time and knowing loads of people i thought i could help turn its fortune round which to my delight i helped do, not without considerable expense i may add doing hundreds of miles most weekends putting out flyers , checking out DJ.s etc . I never made any profit out of Winsford when you take into account all the previous things i,ve mentioned. So why did i do it. Love of Northern soul. pure and simple. Steve

Mace. I think Northwich civic is nicknamed the morgue, there used to be soul nights there in the 70,s. Doubt very much if a nighter ticket would be issued. But stranger things have happened. Steve

Mark. The new civic is being built very close to some houses so there will be no nighter licence available. Steve

Just been told that Winsford civic centre is being demolished early in 2009 so there will be only one nighter there early next year probably in Feb. Will post more details later. The 2 remaining dates for this year are safe. So folks if you have always promised yourself that you will go, you have only got 3 more nighters to get down there. Steve
