Still chasing Johnny Dunn myself- Richard Searling Tunes
Nice one Billy, maybe in the latter days of Wigan and through their obvious business links but let's be honest he must have pulled thousands of records from 'other' sources as every top DJ would do to craet that very 'Hot Box'- Richard Searling Tunes
I was talking to Richard Searling at Prestwich recently, about a record that I'd heard him play at many moons ago, which had become not only one of my all time favorite records but one of my most elusive 'wants'. I got to thinking how many bloody tunes this guy had played over time, that had become, not only some of my favorite records, but i'll bet many other peoples as well. I guess all you have to do is think about are some of the venus he's been associated with, Va Va's Wigan, Stafford, Morecambe, Rotherham (and that's just the 'Northern' venues) to realise how influential he's been. The record was The Notations on TAD............ Just wondered if there's any other records he's championed over the years, that have remained favorites of fellow Soul Sourcers?- baz m and flanny

Amazing...an old Wigan Instrumental, forgotten by the masses, 20 quid all day, a few spins undercover at Bury and look at that, Jeez Mad prices not withstanding there are some great underplayed records getting spins at various venues and sounding brilliant IMHO, keep it up guys- Ronnie Mccain - This Time I'm Gone
It sure was Simon, and we had the conversation about where his copy came from.........- Ronnie Mccain - This Time I'm Gone
Great Record ....heard this played out at Bury last month- Kristy Released And Yet Such Poor Quality
Hi Phil ALL copies of this, even the handful of initial demos were of poor sound quality, apparently due to the fact the recording was taken from a demo tape rather than a master. It's always, IMHO, held this record back from being played out more and giving it the exposure it deserves. You are right about an album. I spoken to someone who may be able to take this further for/with you..... ATB BazM- Fantastics
Jeeeeze....not another mispelling........'maleday'!!!........ gonna change my name to 'Jones' Nice One Phil- The Stimulation

Hi, sorry can't scan it for you but pretty rare record on All Platinum, Bob Hinsley used to feature it a few years ago and i've pestered him to sell it to me since then. Books at £400 in the guides Top Class Northern IMHO BazM- Sharon Mcmahan
Early doors spin at t'Orwell for me and the Plumbmeister ....Tune! Baz M- Small List Of Sales
- Nighters Or Local Do's
Spot On! on all levels IMHO.....................Can only speak from my recent experience but for me Lowton and the aformentioned Mr Jones Bury gig, push the musical boundaries a little more than your average soul neet and so are a worthy of a visit for those who like to be in bed at a reasonable time. As a bonus every so often they metamorphasise into an All Nighter for special occasions just to keep everyone happy. The choice is there..... BazM- What Was The First 12"
I've had a pic sleeve 12" for years and never noticed it was a Promo and now you mention it not seen many other copies- Rarest Soul 12"
Not the hardest by a long shot but not easy to find pprobably reflected by the fact it's $178.00 on e-bay with 4 days to go.....always liked it IN DEMAND ! 12" PRECIOUS "taboo" US- Rarest Soul 12"
Dave that's why it too me so long to get a copy that bugger Plumb covered up the lable- Rarest Soul 12"
Orig Funder Cooper very rare imho...........found one in a collection after looking for many years for it BUT i think it's been booted as a look-a-likey copy in the last couple of years (as has quite a few 12's of this type due to demand on the euro boogie scene)- Rarest Soul 12"
Mines orange! (there's an old joke about 'Wotsits' there somewhere) and you're right the bass line kicks on the 12" There's another thread is the remix 12" better that the orig version, Alfie Davidson and Velvet Hammer as an example. Not particularly on topic for this thread but Shep Pettibones remix of Skyy 'Lets Celebrate' for me has always been an exapmle of the remix taking a track to a new level......................................- Rarest Soul 12"
Must admit John because i'm not actively seraching for some of these 12's as much as I used to I can't really comment on exactly how rare they are although I'd have thought the Magnificents isn't that common. I do know that it doesn't take much these days to go from a few copies on gemm to hens teeth in a fairly short space of time. Saw a 'proper' copy of the Jay Player Bevnik 12" on e-bay not so long ago and that was the first one i've seen for a long while (it was always hard to find when it was being played AND booted) so I guess as you say, probably right to 'buy first ask second' or at least 'if in doubt, get money out!'........- Rarest Soul 12"
