  1. Just turned onto channel 3 (not the group) and its about Butlins, and guess what there playin Al De Lory - Right on and as I'm typin, Sliced toms _ just Bros Whats it comin to? TOTP
  2. Heard Dean Parrish on Chris Evans show, he followed it with that simply unaffordable tune "Mr Blobby" by Mr Blobby. Whoever put that show together makes me wonder where the world is headed. TOTP
  3. Theothertosspot commented on Raym's comment on a gallery image in Albums 2011
  4. Calvin Williams on DEL-LA RECORDS shares the same backing track as a few other records, but the credits are different, ie DE-lA RECORDS puts M Davis (is that Melvin Davis?) as one side (Lonely you'll be) and J Matthews + M Davis as the other. The two credited side sounds like Johnny Mae Matthews, the other? Also 'Lonely You'll Be was a Hestor/Wylie track I believe. TOTP
  5. Our love (both versions, plus there are others) and Rose Batiste (Hit and Run/Miss my baby), tunes picked up on at Soul on Trent in the early days and still widely adored by all. TOTP
  6. For sheer quality Ray Pollard - The Drifter cannot be bettered, I think.
  7. Wont it Major Bill Smiths output, vocal to soul symphony? How about Johnny Sayles track on UK Liberty (US Minit) records that has the same backing track to the Accents "who you gonna etc" on ONEDERFUL. Whats your thoughts? TOTP

What are the Heritage Showstopppers, are they reissues/boots? (I only have a Beacon copy) TOTP
  9. Ain't Lorraine Chandler/Four Sonics sam backing as Hesitations "She won't come back" Pied Piper Production? TOTP
  10. Got and like both (that's why I got them) but I think Len Jewell is more uplifting than Mr Colbert, although they both use the same backing. TOTP
  11. A lot of the Pied Piper stuff, Lorraine Chandler, Eddie Parker, Hesitations, Sam Butler, etc used the same backing tracks, as did Popcorn and Hestor, but perhaps the first to do it was Berry Gordy (not sure though, anybody confirm/agree/disagree) TOTP
  12. Billy Sha Rae - I'm Gone (cheapie) Eddie Parker - Ditto (cost yer a bit more) Both got pressed, or is it reissued?, think Billy Sha Rae before Eddie Parker TOTP
  13. Major Lance did it too (i'm the one that loves you) TOTP
  14. Was it Calvin Williams? TOTP
  15. Probably similar soul pack!!!!

As was told in a different PARODY , you can take the Sam out of Soul but you can't take the Soul out of Sam. God love Him, we do.

Sam defies all laws, look at the entry above, he's mixing two decks simultaneously, whilst putting on another track TOTP

To be fair the "Four Tops", "Drifters", etc still play under the same name, as do Manchester United, but Bobby, Jackie, George and Johnny don't play for them anymore. TOTP
  19. The 76 version was released to promote the LP of the same title, when will the NS plunder that LP (tastes do change don't they)? TOTP
  20. I have a copy on Golden Gate (not sure if boot or not, came in a collection). The backing track is used on another record (not soul), can't think of it at the moment and not sure which was first, anyone help? TOTP
  21. What about the version Sam's playin at the moment, absolutely fantastic. Who else could get away with it? Whose mix is it? TOTP
  22. d'ooh The pub was the Bulls Head (Arse) at Woodhouse, wed'e been Manships
  23. Remember, lost me way, but when we got there, he was soon onto That ABET "Bigger and Better track, although at the time Manship had some excellent UK some which we ignored. KIT
  24. Remember when the most truly soulful records were played back to back was when I heard "DOWN AND OUT followed by WHAT HAVE I DONE WRONG" - George Freeman and Carolyn Crawford respectively by that nemisis (who loves me) Carl F at the Holy Cross Wellington St Leics. Regards
