Been looking for one of these for sometime Steve old boy...probably loadsa copies hiding in some ex-soulie's lofts somewhere.. Just when I think I'll find one...the closer I get....
  2. My god-a twenty quid record for $256!!
  3. KINGS OF HEARTS £20-£25 CHARLES PERRY £35-£40 IMPERIAL C`S-£2000-£2500 (Phila Of Soul...stamped) Acetate should be worth more of course? METRIX not sure....
  4. Don't leave 'em on a table where they'll (as you say) probably never get seen under a sea of other flyers. As these cost time and money to produce they're no good in some club's bin or ruined to the point of not being re-usable. The solution we decided on some time ago is to personally put the flyers in people's hands as they enter the venue or are stood or sat around the place. But what do we know? If you consider the poor attendance at Barrow Hill in September- NOT A LOT! But this is the 21st century-the internet is becoming as common now in households as TV, gas, electricity and water. We needed flyers in the past but are they now becoming obsolete?
  5. Quite a few Steve-But one of ours is a two and a half mile straight drive from M1 Junction 29A. The other`s not far from M1 Junction 30 then A619 as you can see from my signature. So that's two to start with.
  6. Was still at school...Didn`t really start going to soul nights until '73 unless you count the stuff we were playing at the youth clubs before that.. Attended my first allnighter in '74. Took a few short breaks from the scene but you know..once this stuff is in your blood it never leaves you and you always come back.
  7. Thanks for that m8! Very welcome news
  8. I put the two sheets of glass theory to the test once or twice. Also put the 45s under a heavy weight for several(!) months. These methods are not exactly perfect however and have not removed the bowled-ness totally. Just suffiicient to allow the tone arm to stay on the record! These so called 'compression techniques' unfortunately also compress the groove so the sound quality suffers slightly...I'd be interested to see how you go on with this. Please keep us posted!

  11. That`s right pal. But the answer to the guy`s question is yes-both Miss Madeline AND The Young Folk`s "Lonely Girl" ARE the same cut..Isn`t this collecting lark wonderful and informative...

Great. I`ve had this on Atlantic for years. And don`t forget the flip..... DON`T COME AROUND HERE NO MORE
  16. Yeah Gray-The Alfie Davison acetate`s gone for £130. The Jimmy Soul Clark Black Magic test press went for £100. Interesting also to see what the Del-Larks went for-£3,648! Thought it was worth around £3K at the most as more copies seem to be turning up lately...
  17. Thanks you two-the link you put in Facebook didn`t seem to work but this does. Maybe the site was down at the time. Great article. And great news concerning our old friends Melvin and Bryan.
  18. No-only the BOOM white demo was booted with (as you stated) Tell Her/Determination! Unless (of course) anyone knows differently...
  19. You certainly did Kenneth! In a way you were right here as well when you said (except for the giving up part..) "My answer its 6ts that sound seventies or is that seventies that sound sixties, no i give up !!"
  20. "CROSSOVER Late 60`s early 70`s mellow soulful mid-tempo, pre-disco era soul, dance 45"* So it`s soul which crosses over eras but the basic sound and feel are the same. So now maybe you`re thinking can you have R&B crossover? Late fifties to Early sixties?? Who knows? Maybe. *Many thanks to John Manship for this definition
