  4. I've brought hundreds off eBay discogs etc and have only had 2 records go missing ,one from up north and he gave me his stock copy from own collection£50,said he'd had about 5 records go missing and reckoned it was one of the posties, no reason to disbelieve him as I'd brought off him before very reliable, and one from Germany only a pressing, but all in all very lucky but would I sell on eBay ? I'm scared shitless, I'd only sell in uk but not sure as I have not much faith it's all those scary soul source stories
  5. There have been some lovely (white)pop oddities played on the northern scene over the years, joannie summers Helen Shapiro Paul anka etc are they soul? No but I've loved them all the same.unlike some twerp that played 5000 volts at Wigan which totally pissed me off. Love the the saying"if I had to explain it you wouldn't understand it".
  6. Northern soul to me is a term coined by a English guy that described any form of black music mostly from the 60's that was danceable to us. If an r n b sound was danceable it became termed northern soul, as was motown philly deep Latin (cal tjader etc)70's and eventually disco 80's etc, if we seperate northern soul into its true genre names we recognise them, but collectively we call it northern soul or rare soul, that's always been my take anyway. What it is brother✊

no matter what age we are we can all lack confidence in our abilities if something doesnt exactly go to plan, playing soul music that you believe in is harder than you think, played out oldies is the easy way outand i think thats great advice from Ady,stick with it tezza, if you sell your stuff i know youll regret it it.dont forget you brought these sounds for yourself not anybody else and if peope like them as much as you bonus, maybe the bulk of the crowd are new and are expecting more obvious stuff,i like to educate while im djing and hope people agree with my choice, believe. basic keep the faith, its a journey not a race. Thanks for the great response can always count on the soul source boys,I have most of these, I see there is a people's choice 12" that commands 3 figures but is easily obtained on 7", and what about lps? The anthony white isn't as rare as people think I've seen loads but always £50+,steep methink, there's never really been a price range on philly soul until now, if you want to hear great philly look no further than Ian dewhirst "harmless" output last year of "Philadelphia int' 40th" boxset, best all time comp!. I also WISH someone would release Tim mccalister s mix of "be for real" on 12' and lastly what of dick jensons "new York" for availability since mr remarking plugged it.

What are the hardest records to find on Philadelphia international records, not just money wise. I think "stop and think"by the trammps on U S is hard, plus some people think the issue of Caroline Crawford "good and plenty",another seems to be the issue of the ebonys "so glad I'm me", anyone?
  24. knowing dave all these years, reminds me of the "hardest working man in soul business"thougherly! deserved, keep up the good work Dave,ps. any more funny weston/rimmer stories, soul scenes version of laurel and hardy...lol
