  1. The vinyl on the record looks fine. I played it and it sounds great. Trouble is, there's a one-inch hairline crack in the record. You can only hear it in the opening grooves. I was told that this is a FAIR record, despite the fact that it plays fine. I may have seen a few similar items being posted for sale here and there, but not many. What should I do? I don't care for the record and would like to put it out there, but I think 'fair' would scare some people off...and like I said, the record plays just fine. Thanks in advance for any input. Best, Mark
  2. I've had a listen to the sound file...sounds like something the Popcorn folk would go for. Best, Mark
  3. I'm glad she knew that you guys across the pond thought highly of her. We really need to reach out to these great singers and musicians while they're still here. Best, Mark
  4. Actually, I DO sit at home and organize the box...I want everything in alpha order by artist so I can easily find stuff. I'm very much anal about that. The only things I don't keep in alpha order are my '3 before 3', which I keep at the end of the box (Travis Wammack, Continental Four and Dean Parrish). Best, Mark

  7. I DJ the Sunday brunch every so often...they have different DJ's and different styles every week. Usually, all I have to do is PM the guy who books the DJ's for the brunch (who is a soul DJ himself, incidentally...he and his crew have a gig the last Friday of every month at the Five O'Clock Lounge on the west side of Cleveland) and tell him I want to DJ. The last couple of times, he's contacted me and asked if I could do such-and-such a date, and I said yes. We've also been talking about doing a brunch together. I will let you know the next time I'm there...usually, I've got a couple weeks notice for these things. Best, Mark

  9. I have everything--both soul and non-soul 45s--lumped together in alpha order by artist. Within the artist, the records are in chronological order, i. e., the Major Lance Okeh singles would come first, then the Dakar, Curtom, etc. Since there are specific labels I collect, I may just put those labels separate from everything else and in numeric order. It sure would save me from buying spares that I can't get rid of. Best, Mark

  18. Among the pickups I made earlier today...three albums: Gladys Knight and the Pips Standing Ovation (featuring No One Could Love You More), Jerry Butler Soul Artistry and Spyder Turner Stand By Me (never saw the album before today). Singles-wise, the big find was The Girl's Got 'It' by Billy Preston, just in time for my DJ gig this Sunday. I also found a Goldies 45 reissue of I Still Love You by the Casinos, a nice original copy of Don't You Care by the Buckinghams and an odd promo copy of Stormy by the Classics IV (odd in the sense that the flip is not 24 Hours of Loneliness, but a tune called Ladies Man, which is a pleasant enough dancer, but not in the same class as 24 Hours. Best, Mark
  19. Not sure...my copy is a demo as well. Best, Mark
  20. She has a much better single (IMO) on Sunflower, Because I Love Him. Best, Mark

Imperial Wonders--"You Live Only Once" (Solid Foundation) paid $10 Little Milton--"So Blue (Without You)" (Checker) paid $1, and worth every penny! Mary Love--"Let Me Know" (Modern) paid $10 Grover Mitchell--"Take Your Time and Love Me" paid $3 for a copy that's seen better days, but I'm still out for a cleaner copy. Tony Talent--"Gotta Tell Somebody" (Vando) paid $20 Vanguards--"The Thought of Losing Your Love" (Lamp) paid $3 for a copy that's seen better days. Oscar Weathers--"The Spoiler" (Top and Bottom WLP) paid $3 I also picked up spares on the Masqueraders "I Ain't Gonna Stop" and James and Bobby Purify "Untie Me", if anyone needs either, I'm willing to do a small trade. And I also picked up Adams Apples "You Are the One I Love" on a yellow Brunswick...it's not an original, but doesn't seem to be a boot either. Best, Mark
