  2. Agreed on that Pete. Funny thing is i'm surprised how few copies of the Hamilton Bohannon turn up in old Wigan collections, or perhaps i've just passed them by? Do remember the whole place shaking to these tunes back then - happy days!!
  3. Just had a thought mate - i think Cochise was a bigger stomper instrumental bit before the Champion!!!!!! Obvious which one has stood the test of time though. Alan
  4. Mark, it was immense! About the same time as The Brothers-Are You Ready For This, another monster instrumental at that time was Hamilton Bohannon - Foot Stomping Music - never heard it since I dont think. Alan

One record I always wanted but never found cheap enough for me was Liz Christian - Suddenly You Find Love - CBS. Sold 99% of my collection when bankrupt, said only 2 records would start me collecting again, one being the Liz Christian, the other that Len Barry LP. Got the L.C. on Cbs demo 2 weeks ago, so looks like i'm back in the game, only in a small way of course?! Alan

I remember Billy Paul, dont recall his dj spots, but do remember him helping us out when we had the car broken into one Sat night. Had window smashed, jacket & £5 nicked - nice bag of records not nicked!!! Alan PS. Anyone remember a guy from Lostock, Bolton - not a DJ - called Dave Perry? Was one of my best mates in M's in those days.

Mark, Mr Ms was my favourite place in the world 75/76. Always had great atmosphere, good crowd & great oldies. Heard a lot of the older stuff in there, very good times. Got me bloody shivering now!!!! I have a photo of Mike Rolo about 74 ish at Top Rank Reading, with hand cupping a girls right boob!! Nice guy, RIP. Alan Shame on you Hippo, my happiest nights mate - Mr Ms & Yate!!! Alan

  23. I havent any memorabilia from that either, got Edwin Starr photos from other shows etc. Jackie Wilson was May 75, disappointing, but i remember dancing on a table on the balcony - high on life maybe!! I have a good Jackie Wilson live photo, black & white, will try to scan it & post up. Alan Paul, The night i remember her performing was definitely April 75, not long before Jackie Wilson night. Alan
  24. Mick, the first Edwin Starr show I saw at Wigan was October 74, I think, not long after 1st Anniversary. Always a great performer, plus the usual 2 extra hours when a live act was on. Happy days!!!! I was at the Betty Wright night aswell, although didnt really watch the show as we'd already seen her midweek at Reading Top Rank, a great show though. Alan.
  25. Mark, I've also got a British Decca issue if you dont get one. Alan.
