Chess Records
So...what's the rarest Chess 45?? Tough one that comes to mind - though no doubt there's tougher - is Charlie Brown (really!) "The whole world is watching", belting little number too.

Record Stores In Brooklyn Ny
We're the people behind the record decks so pretty easy to find, I'm the tall one with the long hair and English accent, Honky's in glasses and probably playing the entire Shrine catalog in sequence for fun so we're pretty easy to tell apart Oh, and good old Mick H (hi Mick!) will be on this side of the water joining us for this one too, good times. ps expecting a lot of press, not least as Numero have done such an outstanding job on the Syl boxset, so def get yourselves advance tx!

Record Stores In Brooklyn Ny
I've boxes of sales stuff Steve but very little crossover/70's, has never been my thing. There's record stores scattered all over, staying in Brooklyn you could head over to Williamburg on the G to the likes of Academy, in the city there's several on the Lower East Side and Strider in the West Village on Jones (not Great Jones), but really none are standout sadly. Shame you're not staying longer, we're putting Syl Johnson on stage Fri Dec 3rd, going to be a blinder

I used to play squash at the Eastern Athletic on Clark, would often undo the good work with a couple of pints at HSAH afterwards!

Record Stores In Brooklyn Ny
Blimey, I've lived a few minutes walk from Henry St Ale House for a decade+ and never knew that about the manager! If you go to Clover Club on Smith (recommended) you'll find one of their cocktails got named "Midnight til Six" by me after my fave Pretty Things 45, pretty much sums up the hours find myself there too

The fair isn't in Dumbo, it's actually walking distance from Times Square, 440 W57th St in the Holiday Inn, best dealer is Barry Soltz, tell him you're a Mets fan and he'll knock off 10% (joking, he's a die-hard Yankees fan so don't do that! )
-
Record Stores In Brooklyn Ny
There's a record fair in the city on the 20th, tends to be slim pickings most months but you never know If you're in DUMBO you can do a lot worse than walk 3 minutes to here https://www.yelp.com/biz/vinegar-hill-house-brooklyn

Ronny Boy Vs Ronnie Boy
Don't think the Karen one is too difficult, I picked up a minter for c. $75 and have seen a few at various record fairs since, had never even heard of this Betty one before Chris's auction.

It just sold so thanks for the pointer Ezzie!

Large Mixed Bag Of Known And Oddball 45's
Looks like it Tony! Shep is the Don Gardner Orchestra, stupidly I could have asked Don face to face when we had him onstage last month but never crossed my mind at the time. Dunno where I got the Mary Love connection from in my head but have deleted it (maybe from Mary Comer or somesuch name, or an extra point of IPA while typing this list up!)

Joe E Young And The Toniks
There was a copy of the lp (love the Double Deckers style pic on it) on an old list on the web for c. 10 quid, wrote to the guy asking him if he still had it, he answered yes but the price was "wrong" and instead wanted uk125 for it. Politely declined, then shortly after picked up a mint copy of Flowers in my hand 45 for $5, slightly better deal

Three Rarest Of The Rare Records For Sale
So who was it who bought this mythical 45, can they maybe finally post a scan and stop all the general bad feeling that seems to be here? If it was indeed a bargain price they can be happy to go public for having apparently got such a good deal after all
-
Re-Vells - I Want A New Love - Trent Town
This record always sounds monstrous out, even though it's from just across the water from here over in NJ it really never shows up locally
-
The Ones That Got Away
2nd City Sounds Birmingham c 1983, saw Edwin Starr - Scott's on swingers for uk3 in the new arrivals box but walked over to look in a different section for barely 2 mins to check something out without picking it up and sure enough just as I went back....

New Year Soul
Wondering what to do with your New Year's Eve? Well for a great trip and a truly unforgettab le start to your 2011, Dig Deeper is throwing a mammoth party in Brooklyn, live on stage doing full sets we have the flat out incredible Billy Prince, lead singer of Detroit 60's super group the Precisions, he's hands down one of the best singers we've ever been proud to have welcomed on stage, check him out from our last show with him right here: https://il.youtube.com/watch?v=n4kUgIqKc1E&feature=related And even more, the legendary Soul Sister #1 and James Brown's all-time favourite singer Marva Whitney https://il.youtube.com/watch?v=qRub5MNc8EU&feature=related, AND a full set to open by our very own Sweet Divines. Plus rumour has it myself and DJ Honky have a few piles of rather fine records to play you. All this for just the ridiculous price of $30 too, that's barely 20 quid for an unforgettable night of great soul Where: The Bell House, 149 7th Street Brooklyn, between 2nd/3rd Avenues Tickets right here: https://www.ticketweb.com/t3/sale/SaleEventDetail?dispatch=loadSelectionData&eventId=3271695

Ronny Boy Vs Ronnie Boy
Spot on with the details as ever Bob! Here's the ebay one, great looking label even with the tear huh, soundfile link not working any more but it's less frenetic / more traditionally soulful than the Karen version, will try doing a soundclip when it shows up here https://cgi.ebay.com/...RK%3AMEWNX%3AIT
-
Ronny Boy Vs Ronnie Boy
Ronny Boy - Antoinetts on Karen out of Detroit Ronnie Boy - Rochelle & the Classmates on Betty, allegedly out of Chicago (true? Boba expect your usual lightning reply!) Slightly different spelling but same song, anyone with the background on which came first etc
-
Aquaman - Line & Track
Make sure you get it on Hiback T, Hirich is a 2nd pressing, have a mint one but no spare right now, sorry!

Dee Dee Gartrell - I Must Be Doing Something Right
