SBI is from the Houston, Texas area, didn't think Salem was.....
  2. HerMone and the Boys in the Band - We are the boys in the band / Soul Groovin' (the Great G record company) Both an Ian Wright spin in UK and a Honky spin in NYC, total 70's uptempo seventies workout, can see why this is so big in the UK especially right now. A copy just sold for over $400 on ebay, as a bonus the flip is a great instro of Good Things by Chuck Jackson which was picked up for some spins by collectors a way back, but this 45 has always remained obscure. Visually vg/vg- but plays super strong clean, easily vg++, lucky! uk175

I have 4 by them on this label, believe there's 2 others, as Sebastian clearly knows the one to get is Girl in the Hot Pants, not Northern in the least but a massive boogaloo funk dancer, the flip is astounding too and I play that out as much as the A-side, I used to have a solo 45 by the lead singer too, Henry Boatwright on Genesis, decent 2-sider, traded this to Finewine few years ago.
  4. The same way you love your man you can love me / I really love you Nice copy of this crossover gem of a dancer, not an easy one to find, vg+, some crackles on ballad flip but a-side plays nice vg+, a similar copy but with messy labels sold today for $430 on ebay (has a sound sample too, albeit not recorded too well by the seller!) uk175
  5. As well as this Mica release (prefer the Hook line and sinker side to be honest) I have a blue-eyed cover of Jimmy Robbins which is killer and always gets a lot of questions, and bizarrely a Spanish language version too but that's not so good other than the momentary novelty value!
  6. In case you haven't heard the story behind the Parisians, apparently the singer was a bit doolally, would only perform when allowed to wear his glove puppet of a cockroach (!!) which he'd actually sing to, listen to the b-side and you'll get the idea!! A-side seldom strays from my playbox, a lot of people in Lavaronne just heard this for the first time....
  7. Your heart wasn't in it - please pm if you've one for sale, thanks!
  8. Thanks for the info Andy, I know the copy that was on Gemm of Klicky that a UK friend in Spain picked up was quoted as being the first one sold since the late 80's, have a feeling was Guy h's? Wow, totally stand coreccted on Fabuletts, so much for rarity, but it's a great tune, am sure someone'll find a good home for your spare!
  9. Klicky was recently valued at uk1500, I'm guessing the Fabuletts is rarer, even the label owner's copy which is the only other one I know of isn't clean, mine plays g.r.e.a.t, will be bringing it over to UK to play London on New Year's Eve so if you're around...
  10. Cheers for info, know of 3 other copies of Klicky scattered around, only one of Fabuletts.......
  11. Just bought 2 45's off this great little label, Klicky Robinson (awesome track, now have 2 copies of this so the lesser is going to a new home if anyone comes up with a nice trade or two) and the Fabuletts, have never seen this one before and it's pretty amazing - anyone know if it's Klicky singing lead on this one, sure sounds like it. Also, are there only 4 releases on the label?, know the Jades and the Barons, all belters, would be happy if there were more out there......
  12. It's Kobberley, same label as Trying to run a game on me......
  13. Can you ask him about a 45 I just picked up, Johnny James - I'm addicted to your love on the Black Paint label, little belter!
  14. Kept quiet as didn't want to mess up Pete's sale but there was an immaculate, non-jumping copy at the Allentown before last for a fraction of this, don't know who ended up getting it.....

Charles Spurling is pretty darn tough to find but perversely the few times have seen it come up didn't end up going for much, poss as is not that well known, also not quite right for the northern scene but not really funk either, personally think it's ace, the flip is similar and almost as good btw!
  16. With the picture sleeve???
  17. Yes, pretty good version but not a patch on Connie Austin's (that ones pretty unknown still), there's a few other things worth picking up on the label too, not least Mr Hanna's swinging cover of Roy Lee Thompson's "Busybody" which is in my playbox for tonight!
  18. Well apart from Cliff's live version on an lp at the Talk of the Town, the weirdest cover I have of ANBAHP is either the one by the Tremoloes or the crap version on some Indonesian ep have buried somewhere, am sure there's plenty of others....

3 known copies, I've had 2, all 3 live in New York City......
  21. It's well-known (and cheap) on the funk scene, definitely funk as opposed to northern.
  22. Kind of a cheating one this - Voices Inc - Thinking, as the 45 is a diff and way better cut than the lp.

Deadbeats isn't that rare, what is tough is getting a minter as most are only vg/vg+ or so, also most have a marker pen on one side, know of 3 copies in collections within a mile or 2 of here, mine included, all minty too, personally I play the other side out. Incidentally, most people don't know they have another version, totally rawer, same 2 songs but really different, also on Strata.......
  24. PM'd you!
