Top R&b Tunes Played In The Main Room
Nah don't tar them all with the same brush Davie, good & bad in all genres. Suggest you have a listen to Ray Charles's last album that he cut before he passed away called Genius & Friends. Sort of brings together the best of old & new R&B & features Ray duetting with people like Leela James, John Legend, Mary J Blige, Gladys Knight & the above mentioned Angie Stone. Just a shame Atlantic didn't think it was worthy of a UK release though Having a nightmare with my pc or I would post a couple of tracks in refosoul for you to have a listen to.

Top R&b Tunes Played In The Main Room
Far from ashamed Davie. Was just offering an alternative point of view. After all they are both hammered to death in main rooms as the thread suggested. Seems I'm not the only one either. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R._Kelly https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angie_Stone Was also at a night recently that featured amongst others DJ'ing Joe Dutton, Ted Coulsone & Hoss & have still got the cotton wool that I removed from my ears to prove it

Top R&b Tunes Played In The Main Room
Best record on the page by a country mile. Spanner in't works time though Angie Stone - Wish I Didn't Miss You. R Kelly - Up & Outta Here. Both top current R&B artists. Both played in so called 'main rooms'. Funny old scene innit

The Modern Term R&b
Right then here goes, The way I see it is most music is electronic apart from percussion, horns & some strings. Guessing you like your 60's RnB & if so what would it sound like without the main 3 instruments, the electric guitar, the bass guitar & the now legendary Hammond organ? All electronic Then we get to the vocals, whats that in the singers hand? A microphone. They'd sound pretty silly if it wasn't plugged in & ran through a mixing system & an amplifier to enhance the sound I'm sure you'll agree. The only reason there were no synths & computer generated music on 60's tracks is simply because the technology was not around but you can bet your bottom dollar if it was it would have been used 99% of the time. Might I suggest you have a listen to Stevie Wonders albums Songs In The Key Of Life & The Secret Life Of Plants & you might see where I'm coming from. Off to do a bit of climbing with Ingrid now

Speed Up And Slow Down
Original vinyl only = original speed only. Boot = Boot the speed up & down if you like Seriously though the tools are there to use so if you feel comfortable using them get on with it.

12" Question Part 2 ?
Classic example of this is Garfield Flemming - Don't Send Me Away on Beckett. Total waste of vinyl.

Most Bizarre Record Find Of The Year - Surely?
Nice one Pete Think the clue might be in your avatar though fella Strangest thing I ever found was a copy of Leroy Hudson - All Because Of You on Curtom one night after I'd been DJ'ing in my record box. Thing that was strange about it is I own a copy on Warner Brothers but have never had it on Curtom. Checked with all the other DJ's from the night & it wasn't theirs so god knows how it got there.

Good question Col Have asked the same question on here a few times before & never got an answer. Where's Dewhirst when you need him.

Big Boots
Think you mean Cunnie has a 12" carver of the unreleased full length version that's different to the Fun City 12" version that came directly from the studio mastertape Yum Yums Steve

Original Vinyl Only ?
Guessing when you say 'banging Modern' it was a Soulful House track so it was probably downloaded legally from somewhere like traxsource & burned onto a CDR. If so that throws up yet another swerveball. When the tracks finally get an official release do the DJ's who have downloaded the tracks legally throw away the CDR's & have to buy the vinyl release? Tyron Dixon & Lisa Shaw spring to mind from recent months.

Original Vinyl Only ?
Totally agree with you 100% Ian. You know what your punters want & deliver it accordingly but let me throw a swerveball into the works. Sean Oliver - You & Me. Been an anthem on the Modern scene for a number of years & now getting played in some ATB Northern rooms. Got released on Boomtang on CD & 12" vinyl & the CD sounds far better than the 12" release (got both so know the difference) so surely for the sake of the paying punters it's better to play the CD over the vinyl. Not only that but it's a bloody good album & also a dam site cheaper as well now the Northern pricebumping has took hold.
