  1. As previously mentioned, it seemed there were a few about in 77/8 and was offered a copy for £8 at Yate, but didn't take up the offer......Alas as a Ric-Tic completist, picked a copy up around 10 years ago.....for a bit more than £8, and a lot less than "mega-bucks" !
  2. Thank you very much for that information Robb, it is very much appreciated! Please feel free to elaborate further in due course if you would, as I find the whole subject fascinating.......
  3. I think, that the CD Eddie is referring to is actually "The Sound of Sidra", an outta sight soul essentials-"The Detroit Sound" and the release no. is OSCD011, and Barbara Mercer outtake version is track #8....

  5. Hi Dave, apologies but could you elaborate, on John Rhys' involvement, as I was under the illusion that the Rotations was done at Virtue studios in Philadelphia????, and furthermore the latter with reference to the tape unrolling!
  6. Any idea where Luther Ingrams' Hurdy-Gurdy and Smash 45's were recorded?
  7. TBH Dave, I appreciate that the Valentinos were a Detroit group, always thought it was a Chicago production?
  8. Great tune, picked it up cheaply on SureShot.......
  9. Several of the Bobby Williams tracks were "allegedly" recorded in Detroit, including I've only got myself to blame......

  11. Crackin' Tune, and in my collection.
  12. As a "Born Again Detroit" collector (specifically) for the last 20 years anyway, and having read some superb articles by some very well versed Soul Source contributors in relation to the Motor City over the years, I have been intrigued by the information gleaned regarding to "out of town artist(e)s utilising the superb recording facilities in Detroit! I appreciate there are some wonderful books and label related publications, regarding the entire Detroit label repertoire, including a superb label listing compiled by Chalky several years ago on Soul Source, but am both fascinated and eager to learn of the non-Detroit labels and artists that used the likes of United Sounds/Golden World studios to name but a few! I am aware of the labels such as American Arts, and Big Wheel and the obvious Atlantic, and Volt labels utilised by Ollie McClaughlin and Don Davis, and furthermore the hybrid Pied Piper material released courtesy of RCA, who were also a vehicle for many Detroit artist(e)s, but the anomalies are many.....Mike Terry produced many items on both Chicago and Philadelphia output, like Arctic, and Giant/Okeh, etc. but an "obvious" anomaly Billy Hambric-I found true love on Drum, written by Don Juan Mancha, that differences of opinion in several publications highlight.......I won't elaborate further at this stage but hopefully open up viewpoints and opinion, and furthermore glean more information to assist my collecting habit!!!
  13. Rest In Peace Sir, A true Legend in your field of expertise........
  14. Nasty......
  15. I'm possibly a bit wide of the mark, but prior to JM's recent auction of Cecil Washington, the last time I can remember seeing a copy listed on here was probably 8-10 years ago ? when Shifty used to sell on here......I actually missed the copy he had listed, but he was good enough to get me another copy from the US, which the guy sent me direct, and a near minter as it still remains ! It cost me a high 3 figure sum, back then, and whilst it remains one of my prized items, I do have many other pieces in my collection, that do it for me in preference......Irrespective, my records mean more to me personally nowadays, than they ever have prior! But that's another story............
  16. Tony Daniels, was indeed a pseudonym used by Reggie Lamont.......
  17. Credit where due, that was an absolute class interview, and as previously mentioned , what a memory Joe Hunter possesses, I have listened to it several times over, and the pictorial supplement just adds nicely to the "journey".......Great Stuff ! Well Done Graham, can't wait for the "next episode".
