  6. Some good and varied views on this subject, sounds like it is still a big part of the scene in some circles.
  7. I had the same lifestyle for a long time ,the gear ran along with what club to go preferable a allnighter. And took its toll losing mates and friends along the way ,it was a very strange existence especially at the weekend lol

  10. Having seen a lot of gear taking in soul clubs back in the day .is it still as popular today or has the pint taken over from the wraps.is it still a fast night or a more slower pace ,just putting it out there for people's input into the soul scene now ,or any good stories to do why you still do a bit or have put it behind you .I speak from over 35yrs of the allnighters and have seen a lot of change .what's your take on it just for laughs
  11. We were in ess canar part of ibiza and went to local places to eat /drink .but we just didn't find the food very fresh maybe we are fussy .the hotel we were in was the alua soul hotel 4star ,first meal was chicken which was raw and stone cold rice and I mean cold.when I asked the waitress said its always like that ,after complaining it went down hill everyday after ,all the staff very miserable and not very interested.so we didnt eat at the hotel .there was loads more which we would just like to forget about as it was supposed to be a holiday. But we wouldn't go again but that's just our preference.
  12. Thanks,fella
  13. What hotels are near this venue
  14. After coming out of Wigan and heading towards the swimming baths just down the road me and my mate brads asked the attendant is there any trunks in the lost property. He came out with two pairs of what I would call Stanley mathews shorts they went halfway down your leg .we got changed and went to the pool climbed up the height frame and jumped off I went one way and my shorts went the other way to a roaring laughter of all the soullies having a brew ,never lived it down
  15. We go to local ones and around the country but it's getting right expensive now with hotel prices and the like ,we do the odd one abroad but not very many now ,weekenders especially on site hotel is good for us
  16. Funny enough I used to go down to the fair ground when it came to town in Macclesfield in the late sixties the mods used to turn up and the rockers and a big fight happened. The fairground lads played motown and the like ,then I got into going to Wigan and the obligatory gear that came with it .I'm now in my late sixties and still doing the soul scene minus the gear .we go to venues all over the world and meet like minded people ,you can tell a soullie anywhere. The scene is so broad and wide from old to young and good times ,with a few losses along the way .brilliant gendre
