I totally agree with everything your saying fella,it is totally exhausted maybe we should just call it the soul scene now.having been to many over the yrs and heard some excellent tunes but not so many good venues anymore, it seems like if you have a cafe or shop put some decks in and hey presto a soul club appears but closes due to not enough punters attending. We don't personally look out for ns venues anymore but go to just soul music venues which are numerous and everywhere. But each to there own

All the comments are quite varied and interesting. As for me a old duffer from a era when the music and venue just did it ,but lately we probably go to about one a mth now mainly the cost is getting silly.hotel now £150 and the cost of the night runs at about £200.the last one last week was the Kings Hall alldayer never been before even though we live in Stoke but thought we would give it a try ,we stayed 2hrs and left ,we were cheesed off with drunks on the dance floor and beer on the floor and if that wasn't bad enough the music was just mediocre at best .After 45yrs of souling it about I think our time has come to call it a day but who knows 🤔

It has taken me a lot of time and I mean years to be comfortable to dance .having heard a lot of comments along the way about comments on people dancing etc etc.one comments was when we went to the gliderdrome in Boston and we were quite bewildered by a comment made to us that our dancing wasn't right and you could tell we hadn't been into it a long time ,they were very taken aback when I said so 50 yrs + yrs of being into it doesn't qualify us .I because we didn't have the obligatory clothes on and couldn't stomp .so my advice my friend is just do your own thing ie dance /clothes/persona .and enjoy it because 50 yrs comes all to soon KTF
