  1. I just followed the story ( press release) from here. https://dsdrums.com/tony-clarke-7-singles
  2. Well it is a valid question Chalky. And I guess without talking to her or someone that knows her we will not know. However...the informal chat by the Afro America editor Al Rutledge (11th Nov 1967 when the picture in my article was published) is real and followed an engagement (gig) in Baltimore.
  3. yes exatly Mike. 3 witches + 1 warlock. whereas the picture in my article has 4 witches + 1 warlock. the addition of the new witch =Marie Hicks.
  4. the guy (out of shot to the left in the picture-you can see his hands) is Al Rutledge, Afro magazine editor. He did an impromtu interview them following a Baltimore engagement.
  5. Thanks Chalky. The picture is from Afro American. Not any of the sources you identify.
  6. Northern Soul Connections #17 Halloween Edition - The Witches and The Warlock View full article
  7. Northern Connections #17 - It’s October. Spooky goings on, as we approach Halloween. Another Witch uncovered? The double life of the Warlock? Maybe, maybe not. Judge for yourself.
  8. consider the $150 this....and the £10 +p&p for The Internationals ( news of which was shared by Chalky this morning). For me at least no contest..the Soul Junction release. even though i get maybe the "justification" for it , is that the Vernee release is autographed and the lyrics re-repoduced in print, it still is no contest-for me.
  9. thanks for sharing. I have Ray Lewis and also wanted The Internationals.😀 Joy. have ordered.
  10. on the basis i'll never get to see them both again (almost definately), i swung by Venue 73 on Saturday to see Sid Barnes and Tommy Hunt once more. I know they are in their mid 80's but i shut my eyes for a moment or two and it didn't seem so.
  11. Indeed...possibly Larissa Patton (female).
  12. I've seen Larry Payton spelt as Lorry Patton? this could be a BMI mistake of course.
  13. Shades of Soul Issue #8 -Aug 1986
  14. i know i'm straying slightly...but on the jackets thing. I remember one of the lads from Macc who looked the business in a pink'ish cord wrangler.
  15. @ric-ticYou should have looked happier than that if you were going to the Mecca!" that is my best happy face...
  16. no i don't think so. It is... it's Larry Eric Brown, Arnold L Showers, and Brenda McGregor
  17. oh yes BTW: here's the previous thread on the Dynells line up.
  18. I've always been intrigued by Barbara Mercer's 'Call On Me'. writer credit McGregor, Terry, McNeil. It's a 1967 release with the Sidra "touch"(musically)-different arrangment and words to the Dynels. But...coincidence is strong.
  19. i have some of The Ethics sides...so in my database i have this (almost certaily gleened originally from BB, CB or RW. Kas-Mo was Ed KASloff and Jimmy MOton. a single by Floyd Henry was their first. They picked up a dozen sides from G&H.
  20. this is a tricky one. I thought maybe 'the other half of the writing team', Martin Siegel might come up trumps... but not sure. Either way, there may be leads here... 1. another Helios on AR Studios is by Wiess & English, by Ronnie Dio etc -BUT this isn't the voice on the 1968 "I want you.." 2. Helios prexy was Claus (Klaus) Ogerman, and Scott English was for a time the GM of Glamorous Music/Productions (Helios). 3. Scott turns up on many sides with Martin Siegel. 4. Claus Ogerman turns up on a number of joint sides with all those above.
  21. pretty conclusive- i think
  22. By Joey: Two tone tonic suits with three button jackets and a silk pocket square, Levi Sta-Pres keks, Jaytex shirts and V neck slipovers. Nice! We may have been poor, but we were still smart most of the time! Like me back then, you were obviously taken under the wings of the "big" lads. We were pretty similar I think, save for the pint. You couldn't hold a pint of "mixed", I couldn't hold a pint of "brown and mild"! Lol. Happy days. By me: yes i think we were pretty similar.
