  7. Mal C down in Sydney is after a copy.
  8. I got mine in a Goldmine Soul pack not too long ago.
  9. A couple of people asked about the tracks from my New Chapter playlist so here goes: Lee Shot Williams - Baby baby - Jewel DJ Lovely impassioned vocals from Lee on a downtempo crossover styled tune from 1973, with a great string line. Not come across this before or since so not too sure of price, £15-30 should cover it. Lovelites - Who you gonna hurt now - Uni DJ Fabulous piece of late 60s early 70s crossover form the girls with Patti in good voice. About £20 or less. Art Forms Ltd. - I'm a bad man - RCA DJ What can I say? If you don't know this don't stop till you have. Builds and builds to a gut wrenching finale.Soul with a capital S. Early 70s this one, with at least one other tune by them on RCA. About £20. Kim Tamango - (Can't wait until) Tomorrow - Firebird DJ Another fine piece of downtempo crossover - well worth searching out. A bit rarer than those above around £75. Green Berets - (Lord) Send me somebody - Uni Fabulous group deep with a slight beat and lovely chink-chink piano fills. Impassioned lead vocal deserves greater appreciation. At least 2 other 45s on Uni. About £15 absolute bargain. Calvin & Catamounts - I know my baby care for me - Catamount 70s jazzy doo-wop style 45 again too slow for the Northern scene but a fabulous vocal group performance. £100. George Jackson - Macking on you - Chess Absolutely wonderful walking pace soul record from the master songwriter. Beware! You'll want one of these once you've heard it. £50-100. Jimmy J. Barnes - I think I've got a good chance - Organic JJ on an obscure 70s release, which I'm sure most of you know. Those smooth vocals make this a killer. Seen at anything up to £250 - 300. Towana & Total Destruction - Wear your natural baby - Romark Most of you probably know this - Ty's daughter on vocals. Several label variants too. Anything up to £300, but should be gettable cheaper. Sam Nesbit - Chase those clouds away - Amos DJ Fabled flip to "Black mother goose" Dave Godin's first scheduled release for the UK 444 label which never made it past a white label one off, despite ads in B&S. Crossover perfection. Seen in the £350 - £500 range a while back. James Phelps - The look on your face - Apache Best version of this tune for me, but then I found it in Croydon for £4 a year or two ago. Expect to pay £500- 700. Charles Drain - I'm gonna stay - RCA Wonderful cheap midtempo 70s I bought as a new release. £10 - 20. Foundations - Change my life - UK Psycho Soul Essence play. Released c.1978 by Clem Curtis and the boys. Nice lazy piece of crossover. Got my copy in Stockholm for 40p, but expect to pay more! Nate Evans - Main squeeze - Twinight DJ Spent a couple of years searching for this after first hearing it on a tape form Love Music Review. Similar in some ways to the James Phelps, a classic piece of Chicago 70s. £400 - 500. Freddie Waters - You promised me - T-Jaye Superb singer is Freddie. First came across him via his UK Mint release of the US Stax issue of "Groovin' on my baby's love". Mellow 80s indie soul. Price has risen recently. Seen recently at £150. Flowers - For real - Laxpressio Absolute classic. Anyone any idea of the going rate for this? Haven't seen this listed in years. Last one was £500 a few years ago. Pro-Fascination - I want to wrap you in my arms - MOT Originally played for the flip "Try love again", but the exposure of "Wrap" has has caused the price of this to rocket. Been offered £1000 in trade for this. Better of the 2 45s on this label by the group. Charles Johnson - Never had a love so good - Alston This needs no further hyping from me. Flips pretty decent too. His Dash 45 is a good tune too. Tavasco - Love is trying to get a hold of me - Rampart 70s northern tune recently reissued on Grapevine 2000. Last seen listed for £700. Sex - It's you - Super City Another obscure 70s northern tune out of New Orleans and coincidentally also reissued on Grapevine 2000. Wonder what damage the recent Katrina floods have done to the future supply levels of tunes like this. £500. Eddie Floyd - I've never found a girl (to love me like you do) - Stax DJ Cheap as chips and twice as good. Quintessential summery soul music from the "Knock on wood" man. Made #2 on the Billboard R&B chart in July 1968. £5. Two Tons of Love - What good am I without you - Paramount DJ Classic version of the Gladys Knight & the Pips album only tune form this Hispanic duo. Wonderful beat ballad with so much soul. £75 - 100 Lynn White - I don't know why - S.O.H. 12" 80s version of Ollie Nightingale's Memphis records original, taken as a duet with Farris Lanier of Lanier & Co. Around £10. Al Green - Keep on pushing love - UK RCA Promo 12" UK promo only remix, classic modern tune from one of soul music's enduring masters. £40. Temptations - Stay - Motown Promo 12" Standout track from their 1994 CD 'Phoenix rising' (from memory). First heard this at Soul Essence, took me a while to track down a vinyl copy. Samples the bassline from "My girl". Great vocals as you would expect from a group like the Tempts and a stringline to die for. £25.
  10. Hiya John Don't forget that the two versions of this are quite different: LUNDY, BRAD JULMAR 2647 THE BREAKING POINT / A LONELY BOY LUNDY, BRAD LUNDY 1401 BREAKING POINT / I WANT TO SHARE I would rate the Julmar issue, which is more 60s sounding @ £30-40 but the Lundy issue, more of a Willie Tee 'first taste of hurt' type sound at around the £75 mark. Neither in great demand but good tunes nevertheless.

  17. Cheers mate, I didn't buy it through Ebay but he offered it to me following an Ebay bid. When I challenged him on the condition he said "that's what I bought it as" as if that was any excuse. See you Friday.
  18. I bought a copy of Mickie Champion from A. Weaver in the Nottingham area a few months ago. Stated to be M-, I rate it as a well worn VG. I've not been able to get a refund from this guy and he is now not answering my emails. His Ebay ID is Sibbie0. Be very careful if negotiating to buy from him sight unseen. Is there anyone out there in Soul Source land who could help out please? I've attached a scan of the label.
  19. 7 out of the last 8 I've seen for sale on lists were £40, the odd one out was £25.
