  1. Sorry I couldn't be there in person today Joe but I'm wearing my one and only Hawaiian shirt today in your honour. Rest In Peace my friend.
  2. Tommy Tucker - Hi Heel Sneakers / I Don't Want Cha - Black Chess CRS 8086 - NOW SORTED :-) Elgins - Put Yourself In My Place / Darling Baby - TMG 551 - NOW SORTED :-)
  3. That's the story I heard BUT, the copy I bought back in the early 70s, was off a guy who bought it over the counter in his local record shop. So, some got out there independent of Selecta Disc in Nottingham. Unless of course, this guy bought it from Selecta Disc before they discovered they were all instrumentals and before they shipped them back to Kama Sutra / Polydor.
  4. At least there's a silver lining
  5. You got many of these Kev? A while ago, I was trying to collect these and was in the throws of acquiring everything Brian Rae had of these, which was pretty much all of them. But he ended up donating them to some kind of British Music Library in London. Dratt and double dratt I thought to myself.
  6. Anybody not wishing to use street parking from 3pm until 6pm, after which it's free, or can't find any when they arrive, then they can use this parking facility, which is open 24 hours and only 500 metres away from the Sink; https://www.secure-parking.co.uk/find-parking/parking-details/32-liverpool-central/?gclid=CInsrNOgnsUCFQsHwwodyXQA2A
  7. I guess it depended on how old you were in the 60s and how soon at that age you realised you liked R&B / Soul
  8. Hope to see you there on the 17th May
  9. British - alpha-numeric by label Imports - alphabetical by label but all jumbled-up. In other words, all labels mixed up in section A. Same with B, C, D, etc.
  10. Great news. Well done Stan, Pete and Brookesy for making this happen. Long may it reign. For those traveling from afar, make a day of it, there are some great pubs and eateries very very close by. The pubs include the following; Fly In The Loaf - less than 100 yards down Hardman Street on the same side as the Sink, selling a wide range of Real Ales and foreign beers. Great pub and one of my first port of calls whenever I'm in Liverpool. Roscoe Head - on Roscoe Street, another 100 yards down from the Fly In The Loaf, again on the same side after crossing the lights at Rodney Street. Philharmonic - literally 20 yards away at the top of Hardman Street and same side as the Sink. Has one of the most ornate Gentleman's toilets in the country, not to mention the bar and the rest of its interior. There are loads more dotted about very close by. Click on this link for a map of them all. https://www.visitliverpool.com/dbimgs/Real%20Ale%20Liverpool.pdf Some of the eateries are as follows; Fly In The Loaf - Great Bar food!!! Recommended. Bistro Jacques - almost next door to the Sink. I've heard it's excellent. Ego Mediterranean - Just across the road from the Sink and next door to the Royal Philharmonic Hall on Hope Street. I've eaten here and it's excellent. Lucha Libre - Mexican food of outstanding quality. It's literally just 50 yards away from the Swan Inn I mentioned above as one of the pubs to visit. It's less of a restaurant and more of a 'canteena' (purposely spelled incorrectly) with basic decor and furniture but it's fast food with quality and mule like kicks. I could go on forever, as there's so many great places to drink and eat in the 'Hope Street Quarter' / 'Georgian Quarter' of Liverpool, within which the Sink resides. And of course, we haven't mentioned Chinatown yet, which is also within a 5 minute stroll downhill from the Sink.
  11. I'm lost for words. And to think we were just joking away on Facebook a few days ago. RIP Joe, you will be seriously missed. Deepest condolences to his wife and family.
  12. That would be a reissue Dave, as it came out earlier on tri-centre London 8803. Perhaps the re-issue never got issued and only exists as a Demo?

Right, I've now had a chance to listen to the Gates version, which for me, is horrible. (IMO) I've listened to the Musicor version again and still think I made the right decision to sell it a short while ago. Better version than the Gates but still not one for me. (IMO)

Crikey, I thought the Musicor one was nowhere near being a dancer. God knows what that means for the Gates version?

When I read "versions", I assume it's the recording that's different, not the label. Are the two label release recordings the same or different?
  18. How many times does an artist feel he needs to release the same record on his own label???

    What's the difference Dave?

Not a bad little tune but it's definitely NOT the famous American Soul group of the same name. Here's an interesting promotional leaflet that I found inside the company sleeve. PS - Tony Wilson is credited for the lyrics to both sides. Couldn't possibly be the late Tony Wilson from Granada Television and Manchester's Hacienda Club?

How much are you offering Jim? Pretty sure I've got a spare at home. PM me.
