  7. im not calling you a liar dan but i find it hard to believe you have MOST of james browns output in your collection then to say you dont listen to it these days even as a collector of 20 years that would take some doing as its a very LONG list you would have to be a real fan to go after all that and it would take some doing SOUL POWER i think youve put your points over really well erm until you called the temptations a pop group i really dont think the original question is really relevent as it was termed so long ago and stuck, and i think some people are replying as if it was termed today yes i likes the james BE COOL STAY IN SCHOOL DONT DROP OUT

  10. i can remember in the mid 70s i advertised one of these for sale it was so rare and in demand then everyone wanted this, like gold,it was advertised in the free small ads in echoes anyway back then it was more of a reply in writing thing as opposed to phoning, the night when that mag came out id got home from work heard all these car doors slamming looked out of the window and the street was full of cars and people trying to find the house to buy this :lol:even reading now people only rating this as 30/50 quid surprises me

  12. steve you wouldnt have seen steve glover in that shop ten paces at dawn grahams shop was ground level and steve glover had soul galore in the basement with the sister shop at oasis manchester, soul galore was great for the northern and graham was spot on with the new imports,i have some great photos in soul galore must try and find them and post them up.

  14. supercharge wernt a local [wigan] band they were a liverpool/wirral band, one was a neighbour of mine
  15. wow chrissieo i remember migrant mouse!,i remember me and my mate going there and buying papa was a rolling stone the temptations on gordy it arrived as we were in the shop ah the excitement,if you know chester there was also a great little shop down by the station [in a row of about 4 little shops]that sold old soul, they had some great stuff at times and really great albums..wow cant believe anyone else remembers migrant mouse as chester wasnt exactly soultown was it!
  16. not sure if this has been done before, but asking what was your favourite old record shop from the past and why,im not talking about u.s shops where you found your best haul im talking about that really special u.k shop that has a place in your heart, maybee it was those gorgeous imports sellotaped to the window that did it for you or maybee the shop stocked every jay boy release when you were 15 and that helped you get into the music or was it the atmosphere or the characters hangin' around... im gonna leave mine till later as im interested to see if anyone else mentions it but my prize for the best shop name/sign is peps downtown records, handpainted with the city skyline rather like the soultown or black magic labels, right in the middle of walsall too! mid/late 70s whats yours.......
