  1. It was on Soulful Detroit and maybe I got it wrong (I should have been more accurate Ady) as he mentioned Spry Records., which I believe Cenco was a sub label, so I assumed (and we know what assuming does) It's about 3/4 down https://soulfuldetroit.com/showthread.php?9464-Black-owned-record-companies-in-the-60s-and-70s
  2. I am new to this site so I apologise if this has been covered before (please direct me to any threads) I read the great story on Kell Osbourne https://chalkster101.wordpress.com/the-kell-osborne-story/ This lead me to Robb K (thanks again) stating that Leon Rene owned the label Spry Records (maybe there is a connection) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leon_Renรฉ I then looked at the releases and found out that there are quite a lot that have no info about the groups such as The Turbines and Fred And The Turbins (both big $$$$) on the "scene" The first release on the label was Ike and Tina Turners LP showing the address as 1610 Argyle Street Hollywood California USA Most of the release are here (some gaps) https://www.soulfulkindamusic.net/cenco.htm Any info would be superb and I feel this could be a big thread for us anoraks (but I guess and hope that this site is for this sort of thing ๐Ÿ˜€)
  3. Spot on and well done, I knew someone would get it
  4. I want to thank you for guessing (all wrong so far) Here are some more visual clues as promised (all 4 tracks were penned by this man) and as yet no release dates (late 1960's early 1970's ?)
  5. I am new to this site and wanted to ask if anyone knows much about Eldridge (I do apologise if I missed any threads) The info I have is that he is/was from Gary, Indiana and also recorded with The Passions (El Anthony, Roosevelt Christmas, Doyle Cole, John Coleman)
  6. Great guesses, but sadly not........ in a few days I will add clues
  7. I thought with all the serious stuff going in in the world, that we might have a little fun Can you name this face from Chicago, who only released (to my knowledge) 2 singles ?
  8. Do we know who J.B. Troy was ? only 2 records on Musicor (1966) and J.R. Bailey and Johnny Northern writing and producing Les McCutcheon managed to re-issue "Live-On", but I missed the blurb on it and "Gusto Records Inc" was "King Records" in 1966 and Publisher was "Catalogue Music"
  9. Although Syng recorded this after being released he was sadly soon incarcerated again and that ended his career He was lead on this with long term prisoners
  10. You will never know IMHO and I guess a number of factors. age, experience, where was it sourced from in the first place etc will solve it After all Simon Soussan arrived in the UK with boxes of bootlegs and sold them to young lads (like me) who had no idea whatsoever what they were buying. (I am older and a bit wiser now) Record shops in Manchester and Nottingham (other cities as well) bootlegged records and sold them in their racks for fun. Only getting original Matrix details and asking the "right questions" before purchasing records are going to help and of course buying from a reputable dealer will plays be an advantage (but even they have been caught out in the past) In the world there are those "always" trying to get away with making a quick "buck" and sometimes"desperate people do desperate things" This is why this site, if used correctly is so useful and should champion spotting bootlegs and identifying originals so that the next generation, never mind this one won't get duped
  11. Chris I hope you returned it tracked and signed for ๐Ÿ˜€
  12. I have found a great thread here from some time ago
  13. Yes, I do find that as usual everything either gets made up or lost in translation, what he meant was "carver" referred to by him as a "lathe cut"
  14. I would absolutely love to know who did this ?
  15.
