  1. Do seem a tad unrealistic but then I listen to this gem. And I begin to think that the buyers of Lyndell and Simon each got a bargain if the alternative is this Ides of March/Blood Sweat & Tears soundalike on offer elsewhere at more than twice the price.
  2. Thanks lads. I was wondering too.
  3. It's a great record of which I have four different copies but I guess overplayed in some venues.
  4. Sorry not for me. No melody, poor vocal and beat ain't right.
  5. I see nothing nothing amusing in this. Us collectors agonise over Waitrose or Sainsbury's bags. I believe Ady Croasdell recommends Harrods but then he always had delusions of grandeur. I use an old make-up box off the wife. It has a mirror in the lid so I can tart myself up inbetween sets.
  6. Noticed a M- Silhouettes selling for around £1100 this week on US eBay which is far less than JM auction copy last week.
  7. I didn't know Shifty was that eBay seller, but yes makes sense to me.
  8. I must be missing something with that Knox 45. Sounds like a routine Wilson Pickett track to my ears. Other side has a nice lilt but vocal group ? Sounds solo to me. I googled to find it went unsold on UK eBay for £800 just over a month ago from seller Alannealeplumbing. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NORTHERN-SOUL-45-FUNK-45-LEROY-KNOX-THE-MISTAKES-I-MADE-MEGA-RARE-GREAT-DANCER/303842051587

  10. Leaving aside whether you'll find a lot or a few, my advice is either to send them to yourself before you come home if too many to carry. Some seller over there will give you an invoice. 100 45s at 10 cents say or whatever amount cutting down charges [if any] at this end. From experience charges can be random. I didn't pay anything on my last lot from USA. Similarly if you bring some back get an invoice too to present to customs at the airport. I'm not sure what value you can bring back without being liable for charges.
  11. £5409 more than I sold a copy to Richard for ! Still he bought Flash McKinley at the same time for £70 so I figured a bit of discount wouldn't go amiss.

  13. I'm confused too to be honest. I've got no old packages here so I can't check a declaration where I was charged in the past but I think charges were broken down into VAT, duty and PO fee.
  14. From reading that RM link if the seller doesn't declare under £39 you would be liable for import duty and I guess a fee to collect it. Sometimes of course stuff just gets through without charge. Luck of the draw. There does seem to be import VAT and customs duty. Two different things ?
  15. In this day and age you may as well consult chicken entrails.
  16. Well we are all different. I wouldn't have anything less than EX/M- in my collection. I would go without. And everything I buy is NM /M- so plenty of records around in that condition to buy I haven't got. I take your point about the rarities. At one time I wouldn't have a non-original but I've slowly come around to getting legal re-issues of 45s I'm not likely to find or be able to afford. Not that I wouldn't buy to sell a poor condition rarity if it was really cheap but people are throwing big money at such items now.
  17. Yeah, I don't get it either. I look at his lists and lucky to find a VG+ grade on both 45s and albums and yet people bid as if M-. And as you say more than what you could get them for elsewhere with a little patience.
  18. It's Ebay who had 20% automatically isn't it ? Not the seller although Julian's earlier post does contradict that.
  19. I thought "Silverfox" selection was pretty good. I hardly buy anything from UK dealers but bought a couple off him recently and money permitting made a note of a few more I want.
  20. As we're comparing to eBay in what way is Parker's site excellent ? I just checked my recent buys off eBay of common 45s. Tymes WINCHESTER $9.99 Bobby Mac Keep on $5 Astors Candy $5.99 2 x J. Wilson Haunted House $5.98 On Parker list those 4 x 45s come to $110 ! Mine $26.97. And my Tymes and Bobby Mac were both demos not issues and all 4 were M-. Stick to eBay.
  21. Early days yet. I think most people get eBay is adding on 20 % but are not quite sure whether there will then be extra charges from customs and the PO when packages arrive in the UK.
  22. Won it. No VAT. Won it. No VAT
  23. Yes I think I'll avoid until actually sent from mate to me. There is a slight downside to my arrangement in that I pay state taxes.
